I said this 3 times last night Newman and Pearson are better than stallings. He's just choking too much.

It worked out so Im not going to really second guess PM but i really didnt understand Godfrey and Strall. At all. Person and Newman are you two best relievers left. Just seemed weird to me to not use them in critical situations.

He isn't choking. His go to pitch is his fastball and batters come out looking fastball and nothing else. So when he makes mistakes anywhere other than down 1-5 in the order will jump all over him.

The ball of the wall was murdered and took a bad bounce off the wall, Andrew could have played it a little better but there isn't much you can do when that happens.

I agree. Kind of huge that it worked out though considering we could go Lange, Newman today.

I noticed he was warming so he probably would have pitched the 10th at least.

But we damn near lost the lead in the 9th and if that had happened everyone would have said where the hell was Newman/Person.

And when he brought Strall in with the bases loaded i was really nervous about that decision mainly because any loss of a release point with that sidewinder motion and it's a run.

I thought we would see Newman before Bugg. Give him 2 innings or even let him go the last 3. He's more than a 1-inning guy IMO so I didn't expect him to get the 8th. But I thought Person would over Godfrey. I was shocked with Strall. Worked out though. Barely. That was a tough strike 3 call. I thought the 2-2 pitch was closer.

Yeah that really scared me. I had visions of a wild pitch or a hit batter.

No, he does NOT have an "incredible" change. I've seen him mix in an effective change up, especially early in the season. And I've seen him unable to locate it. An "incredible" change would be effective in almost every appearance. His changeup is obviously not reliable enough for him or the coaches to rely on it. And his fastball has been shaky.

He was not getting stronger. It took a pair of web gems from Bregman and Foster in the 7th to rob them of base hits.

I was nervous when Bugg came in, but he did fine, but when Stallings came in and then Godfrey, I was like no way we win. Glad I was wrong. The pitching changes at times don't make sense. Oh well. The first time I saw Chad Jones I was like WTF?

I was okay with pulling Poche. Newman not coming in to me was weird. He has been an opening game guy for us the last couple weeks. Its worked. Guess PM was expecting to go 13 innings and use him in that span.
