Kind of obvious that stats are not good when you are 3-8, but you have to recognize and fix your weaknesses to get better results (which the coaches are well aware).

Batting vs left handed pitching .187 (13th) SEC avg .254

Batting with runners on base .232 (12th) SEC avg .276

Batting with runners in scoring position .220 (10th) SEC avg .271

Batting with runner on 3rd and less than 2 out .444 (13th) SEC avg .584

Success advancing runners .420 (11th) SEC avg .457

Pitching vs right handed hitters .292 (13th) SEC avg .251

Pitching with runners on base .312 (10th) SEC avg .276

Pitching vs leadoff hitter .392 (12th) SEC avg .347

Pitching with two outs .336 (14th) SEC avg .255

Pitching batting average allowed .285 (10th) SEC avg .262

Pitching hits allowed per 9 innings 10.41 (10th) SEC avg 9.18

Pitching runs allowed per 9 innings 7.88 (11th) SEC avg 6.35

Pitching walks per 9 innings 5.16 (11th) SEC avg 4.35

Wild pitches 15 (14th) SEC avg 7.9

Stolen bases allowed .857 (11th) SEC avg .766

TLDR summary: Not hitting or pitching well when it counts.

Need a win today.

The pitching deficiencies are what stands out to me. I expect the hitting to struggle. The pitching has no excuse

I expected both to a degree. Just not this much drop-off

Strong work compiling those states. No doubt we’ve not been playing our best. We’ll get better.

The difference in expectations and reality for me is ackenhausen, guidry, and hurd.

If the bullpen had 1-2 more good arms going instead of what we get from those 3, we are easily 5-6 right now and on pace to be just fine.

From the eye test alone none are more obvious to me than this one. Ridiculous how it feels like we can never get out of an inning

Well…when you’re the worst team in the league, you’ve got only one place to go I guess.

I missed one:

Stolen bases 1 (in 11 games) (14th) SEC avg 8.4

For the most part, baserunning in general has also been a disaster.

Agree. Hard to believe we have only 2 or 3 pitchers that can consistently get SEC hitters out in clutch situations.

Also Loer. If you get anything approaching Reyzelman or Gervase from him, some of these close games look a lot different.

Maybe Cam Johnson to some extent as well - really hit or miss to count on contributions from a freshman to be sure, but there have been several freshmen in recent years who have played bigger roles in high leverage situations (Cole Henry, Jaden Hill, Landon Marceaux, Chase Shores, Garrett Edwards, etc).

Obviously worth noting that we’ve had almost zero arm trouble this year, whereas there were about 4 blown arms around this time last year.

That is atrocious. How are we hitting with 2 outs (don't think you listed that). It seems we are really bad with 2 outs on the mound and at the plate.

You didn't highlight this because there's not a huge gap, but this is also atrocious. I bet it's even worse if you add OBP. We seem to walk (or hit) the leadoff hitter at an absurd rate. Could it be close to .500? Are we allowing the leadoff guy on every other inning? Because you can't really overcome that. I bet we're also close to last in OBP when a hitter is in an 0-2 count. Not IN an 0-2 count necessarily (though I'm sure that's terrible too), but we seem to get guys in 0-2 counts and not finishing them and they wind up walking/getting HBP/or getting a hit at a ridiculous rate. But that could just be my perception. I'd like to see the actual numbers.

What makes zero sense is the bullpen pitchers we put out there have lots of experience. All have regressed and the only change from last year is Yeskie.

I think Ack has been hot and cold and a few times he has been let down by his defense by my recollection. But I was hoping better than we are getting from him.

Seemed to have regressed much more than I would have expected. Probably need to slot them in a few mid-weeks to get their confidence back, honestly.

This has been shocking to me. If they were average, that’s a few more wins. Not holding leads and no where near effective has been head scratching.

Don’t forget the best freshman pitcher of recent memory in Alex Lange. He looked like an All American from the get go. Some guys just have it and some guys don’t. And right now Cam Johnson just doesn’t have it. Was hoping Johnson could’ve been our Alex Lange but oh well.
