A bowl game win would make this LSU's best season since 2011. True or false

Of course LSU has to win the bowl, and we shouldn't take credit for something that hasn't happened. However, IF we were to win, I say true and not sure how you could argue otherwise.

It doesn't mean we couldn't or shouldn't have done better. Doesn't mean Orgeron or Ensminger are the answer long term (or even short term). Admitting this doesn't mean you are an O fan or sunshine pumper.

Just look at the facts and tell me your opinion. A win would make LSU 10-3 and likely ranked around No. 7 in the country with our first NY6 bowl since the playoff era and possibly the first Fiesta Bowl in history. It would be the first top 10 finish since 2011.

False.
2012-10 wins
2013-10 wins
Also in those years under a different regime we could score points on alabama.

This.

You can’t just look at the record. At least then I thought we had a chance to beat anyone.

I'm not just looking at records. I'm looking at rankings and bowl games. In 2012 we lost in the Chick-Fil-A bowl and 2013 we won the Outback bowl, both second tier bowls and we finished outside the top 10 both years.

We were ranked 7th in 2012 when we lost the chick fil a bowl to clemson, which is now a "new years six bowl" that you think is so outstanding. At that time, clemson was trending up and we had the game won and were expected to win. Now, I would feel we would have to pull one out of our asses to have the possibility to beat Clemson.

I'd still say 2012 was better. Three losses by a total of 13 points. And we had a better conference record.

You can call the Peach Bowl "2nd tier" if you want, but it was still one of the major bowls outside of the BCS at that time, and is why it's a NY6 bowl now.

I hadn't thought of it but yes. Win this bowl game and finish in the top ten for the first time in years. Also start in the top ten next season.

We lost the Peach Bowl that year though.

Had we won, you would have a good point. This hypothetical discussion assumes we win the bowl game.

The peach bowl in 2012 is basically what the Fiesta Bowl is this year.

Not a CFP/BCS game.

Right. Which would only equal the overall record of 2012. Still a worse conference record as well, not to mention the struggles on offense. The arbitrary level of the bowl doesn't matter to me.

If we win a NY6 bowl this year, it would be a really nice season. I'd still consider 2012 slightly better though.

False. The Peach bowl was a lower tier bowl that had climbed to a lower-to-mid tier in those days.

From 2012 article...

quote:

And to be clear, this isn't about Clemson, which is a fine team. It's not even really about the Peach Bowl, which has gained some stature in recent years. It's not even about Chick-Fil-A, as I find their sandwiches to be delicious. Someone among the SEC's top six was gonna take one for the team and end up in the Peach Bowl despite a 10 win season. It's just completely unsurprising that the program that has to lie on the grenade is LSU. Because if there's a chance to send LSU to a lesser bowl, the SEC will usually take it. When it comes to league politics, LSU is a consistent loser.

2012: 10-3, loss in Peach Bowl, final ranking of 13

vs.

2018: 10-3, win in Fiesta Bowl, final ranking around 7

You're going with 2012?

Can you tell me the winning lottery numbers since you know what bowl we are going to, and we are going to win, and what we finish ranked?

False. 2012 was easily better. Still can't believe we lost to Alabama and Clemson!

It's called a hypothetical idiot. Most analysts have us going to the Fiesta Bowl.

You may have been watching Swamp People and missed it.
