We would have had our chance. Just like Bama did. There's no point in arguing this with you.

Then why is everyone crying about the media sucking Saban's dick? The rematch happened because LSU and Bama were clearly the 2 best teams last year

So because our schedule was more impressive than Bama's, that means that OSU's was more impressive than Bama's too?

You are a trolling frick

1) no. Osu having a better resume than Bama has nothing to do with us. Do your research and figure it out.

2) that had nothing to do with your question.

just saying, lsu had the resume to argue jumping osu given a close Bama loss.
Bama did not have the resume to even compare with osu's.

Not that much tougher in order to blot out losing to a 30 point underdog....

It sucked, but it's over. We can laugh at the overall ridiculousness of the selection, but there's no changing it.

The BCS was created to put the top 2 teams together in a championship game. It was not created to be fair. The top 2 teams were LSU AND BAMA in 2011, therefore they played in the championship. You can bitch all you want about it being fair or not, but it did get the teams right.

The rematch sucked, but the BCS's job is to pick the two best teams.

Once again, not true.

The BCS's job is to make sure that the two best teams aren't prevented from playing each other because of bowl tie ins that would prevent them from playing.

LSU and Bama played each other.

LSU and OSU did not.

It was the BCS' job to have those two conference champs play each other.

The BCS has been perverted throughout the years by ESPN and the media in an attempt to make it LESS effective, so that we would eventually come to their dream money making machine, a playoff.

They've made a ton of money by bashing a system that would have put LSU and OSU in the BCSCG if they hadn't pushed to change the formula to take out things like SOS and MOV which make the system worse so that they can have more control through the voters and impacting opinion in the polls, like they did with Bama.

The most disappointing thing about the whole playoff, is that the BCS was a bunch of pussies and didn't stand up for their system, so now we have a fricking selection committee which is the WORST thing in the world for CFB.

Say what you want about the BCS, but the poll works if you put the top 4 teams in every year.

They should have gone to 4 teams, and kept the poll, and the system would be perfect.

But ESPN bashed the damn thing so much, they were too afraid to stand up for their poll, and now we will inevitably have a deserving #4 team left our for a shitty media favorite like ND or Boise that gets in over a team like Missouri or Arizona State that may put together a great season but isn't seen as a big draw for the playoff, similar to the way OSU got bumped for a traditional power like Bama.

You watch. It WILL happen.

And then ESPN will push for 6 or 8 teams to make more and more money for them while weakening CFB and leading to 2 or 3 loss champs as a regularity instead of pushing perfection as has been the norm in CFB.

........So that's why I been like, frick ESPN!!!

TLDR version: does it feel as ridiculous now as it did then that we were forced to play Bama a 2nd time after beating them at home?

Yes, I could see a rematch happening for two teams(not in the same conference) that faced eachother at the beginning of the year(like Oregon-LSU), but it was ridiculous that we played a team not only in the same conference as us, but the same division for the National Title.

Combined with how insufferable Bama fans have been since then, I hope Bama goes back into decades of Shula-era embarrassment. They didn't deserve it last year, and they are looking like they have it locked up this year. If they get 2 in a row and 3 in 4 years, I'm never going to go to the SEC rant.

Of course, I'm mad. And butthurt.

Let me ask everyone this. If LSU lost the first game would you think that OSU deserved to be in ahead of us?

No because we would have also lost on the road. But had we lost at home, yes I think OSU should have gone.

The whole thing was/is a beauty contest. If Oklahoma rather than Okie State had the 11-1 record and the early December Bedlam Beatdown, we would have played the Sooners. Okie State was punished for not having very much history. (Just listen to all the idiots who say stupid things like "College football is so much better when Florida is good.")

It won't be that much better when the playoff starts, since the committee will pick the top 4 in the AP pretty much every year.

We should have paid better attention to all of the bowl rematches in the last 15 years that resulted in 20+ point turnarounds. Should have seen it coming.

BAMA is definitely a better team than OSU!...unless OSU makes a short field goal that missed by centimeters, then OSU is definitely better than Bama!

People saying they got it "right" because Bama was "better than OSU" are arguing the wrong point.

Yes Bama may have been better than OSU, but that still doesn't mean OSU didn't get shafted.

---------

If you remove names of school this is what the picture looked like this: Team A & Team B

-They both had a loss, both in overtime. Team A's toss was at home, Team B's loss was on the road.

-Team A had a loss to a high ranked team, Team B lost to an unranked team.

-Team A had 2 wins over Top 25, Team B had 5 wins over Top 25

-Team B won their conference, Team A did not.

-Team B had a stronger SOS than Team A.

-Team A already lost to the team they would play again, Team B had yet to play that team.

In my opinion, Team B should have received the nod. Even if we had beaten Bama I would have felt the same way.

Unless you are an Oklahoma State fan I don't see how anyone can question Alabama's spot in the BCS title game.

I accept the fact that we lost the game, there's really no denying it. But now that I've had some time and space from that horrifying event, I still really don't understand how or why we were forced to play Bama a second time. Do you remember watching ESPN that night and the weeks prior to the selection? It was almost comical how they pushed an pushed for the rematch.
I get LSU and Bama might have been the two best teams, but how can you force us to beat a team we already had in the regular season? At their place no less. The best team doesn't always get to play for it all, see the Saints or Packets last year.
I don't feel as pissed off about it as I used

the only reason it really bothers me is that i'm not 100% sure we would've went if roles were reversed.

espn would cite the rematches in the past that fell flat as well as non conf winners in the past that went to the NC to use against us. and people would say "you ahve to win your conference to go to the NC"
and that would be that. they'd bill the high octane OSU offense against the bama D and that would've been the game.

i want to believe that we would've gone, but i don't know if we would've been campaigned for like bama was.
