I think this would be the ideal playoff format. Five spots go to power 5 conference championship winners making winning your conference count for something again. And that leaves 3 at large bids. Non power 5 undefeated teams would then have a shot as well as one loss teams with good strength of schedule.

Yes I know someone will still bitch about that 8th spot, but I think it is the fairest solution. Conference championships should count.

I think some people put too much stock in conference championships when it comes to selecting playoff teams. Some conferences are better than others.

What if Oklahoma had lost 2 of their non-conference games? Should they still get into the playoffs because they won their conference?

I think there should be four regional conferences made up of sixteen total teams, eight per division. Divisions are regional to make travel easier. Top of division goes to conference championship. Conference champions play in the final four.

End the conference championships. By doing this the playoff field can be expanded to 8 teams without adding any extra games.

Hopefully Urban et al. will bitch and complain enough to push this to an 8 team playoff soon. They really did get screwed and I’m certainly no fan of Ohio State but they have a legitimate gripe. It’s very understandable to bitch about 4 vs 5 but not 8 vs 9. 8 TEAM PLAYOFF!!!

I absolutely agree, what we have now is a crock o shite. Conf mean nothing. Top 3 played a extra game and players risk injury to get in. Bama this year OSU last year risk nothing.

Not sure why they didn’t just start the playoff era with an 8 team bracket. Everyone knew this would end up happening from the start.

That would be better, but then you will still have butt hurt bitches whining that their team didn't get in the top 8.

Uuhhhh. Sun belt, AAC, MW, etc aren't walking through that door.

You're basically telling half the teams in the country that they have nothing to play for.

This is beyond a dumb idea.

Agree 100%. Yes people will bitch about numbers 8 vs 9 but at that point who cares.

Def think OSU, USC, and UCF deserve a shot.

Plus nobody can deny it would be much more entertaining to watch!

Agree, winning power 5 conference championships on the field has to mean something.

This would only need one more weekend. AND I think this year's decision of 2 SEC teams and no BIG 10 will make enough noise to make this happen.

Thank being said, "GEAUX Clemson" and GEAUX DAWGS!"

agreed and i dont care if the conference winner has 4 losses or not, you win your conference you go to the dance just like 8-8 NFL teams going to playoffs right next to 14-2 teams because they won their division and that is what matters.

bcs type of win loss records and rankings are used to select the 3 "at large" spots to get in
