I don't think too many people thaink he is horrible. I think the more rational fan would say that we aren't getting the top notch coaching one would expect from the money we are spending, and we can see the program on a steady decline the last 2 years.

Les miles record at LSU....how do people still think he is horrible???

The easiest answer? Not all of us do.

Those of us who've been following LSU football for decades actually know what it means to have a horrible coach. Miles isn't one of them. Period.

yep, he won it all with Saban's players.

Tends to be the arguement. The 2 years without Saban players he's gone 17-9. That coupled with the WTF moment against Ole Miss has people saying he's horrible at the moment.

BTW, this is just commentary on the feelings of the LSU fan base, not my actual feelings on the subject.

Les is not a bad coach. We are paying him like he is one of the best, which he is not. The money could be better spent.

Great coaches are NOT the CAUSE you lose 2 games a year.
We pay for a Great coach not an above average coach.

Did you watch the Ole Miss or Penn State games last year?

Because 9 of those 15 losses have come in the last two years.

Because there are lies, damn lies, and statistics...

and because

This guy had an even better record

I don't understand how people can say we declined where it really mattered from 08 to 09. We didn't. It's easy to throw yardage stats in the air and say "see? we were worse!"

I call bullshite- because we were competitive in every single game last year- and could have been 11-1 with a few breaks. That wasn't exactly the case in 2008.

We haven't beaten Florida, Alabama, or Ole Miss since 2007.

It signifies LSU's status decline from elite to mediocre. All of the Miles apologists drop that 51 wins statistic ad nauseum, but what does it matter when we're not winning the important games. Who the hell cares if we win 8 or 9 games and go to a non-BCS bowl every year. I mean, how can we not...we played MSU, Washington, ULL, Tulane, and LA Tech last year. That's five wins right there (and hell, we struggled against 3 of those teams)...5 games we are expected to win by virtue of who we are. The difference btween hardware and nobody cares is in beating whoever's competing at the top of the SEC west and the SEC east...which we haven't done since 2007.

and without a few breaks you could have lost to Mississippi State, Arkansas, and Georgia.

Yes - so is he a GREAT coach or above average??
Consider the condition of the program when he got here and look at it today.
We were feared and Elite. Today we "hope" that we are still Elite yet the rest of the world does not share out perception.
Are we better off today than we were when he got to LSU??

no we weren't.

and could have been 6-6 with a few breaks the other way. Went 3-2 in the games that actually came down to the wire, so I would say we were very fortunate to come out 9-3. This doesn't mean we were a whole lot better in 09 than 08 even though we won 2 more games.

Food for thought...
LSU team that played Ga Tech in Chick-Fila bowl (08) vs LSU team that played Penn St in Capital One bowl (09). Who wins?

I was at LSU for the full Dinardo reign and to be completly honest, I don't think there's any difference between him and Miles...except that Dinardo started with less. They've both made bad coaching hires (Tepper, Mallory/Peveto), they've both made exceptionally bad gametime decisions (2009 Ole Miss, Dinardo deferring to Herb Tyler's arm as oppossed to Cecil Collins' legs against Auburn in 1997), and they both quit winning big games in their last few years.

I will say that I give the edge to Miles on the recruiting front (not that Dinardo was awful) and the edge to Dinardo on clock/game management, lol.
