Semjase was ON THE FIELD for that game with TGBFTL. Performed a Bass Drum solo on the entry to "Big Noise from Winetka."
There is a video of it somewhere on the old Tiger Vision. (They used to include all the Halftime Shows in their broadcasts)

I was in the “nose bleed” section…. You could not see the field or actual game due to the fog

Confirmed…it was an amazing night at the game indeed! I remember the following week they had the Orange Bowl logo painted at midfield.

The fans were so out of control while storming the field, police were advising fans as they passed in the tunnel toward the grass to enter at their own risk. Bottles, cups, oranges, ice, and rented stadium seats were being thrown. Really wild atmosphere and no one left early. The "Mike" mascots of the 1960s-80s had character. They were funny. Today? Not so much.

Couple of things: Good to hear Sid Crocker’s voice on the stadium PA and that offensive line was very un-2025-like.

ominous setting to boot
Those low efficiency stadium lights and clouds of cigarette/cigar smoke made for a very specific setting.

I believe that was Mark Jeffers as the tiger mascot.
Was in high school and didn't miss a game back then.

The not politically correct scalping. This is what they've taken from us.

The beauty of this game lies in the LSU offensive play calling. Work of a true technician. The commentators note FSU’s strength early in the game is the LB’s and their run stopping ability. LSU eventually loosens this up with passes to its athletic TE and Dalton. The run game opens, followed by the play action pass game. Goes to show you how play calling is both an art and skill.
