I’m trying to teach you that in that situation the player slides 100% of the time. The only thing he’s looking at third base coach for as if there is no play or stand up.
You’re right, but I still would like to see a more aggressive slide signal from the coach, being a belt and suspenders kind of guy. Both third base outs were good calls to send them, imo. What Curiel was thinking, I don’t know?

honestly didn’t see that so if that’s true then it’s also on him as blame for sure.
I didn't see it either - but if the coach DID signal 'stand up' then you cannot blame the runner - Unless the runner has his eyes on the fielder the whole way, he has to trust the coach - the fielder may have dropped the ball or some other weird shite that could allow for a dash to home.

Thanks for the photos, nb.
3B coach is telling Curiel there’s a play coming clear as day.
That’s on top of Curiel, knowing a play was likely coming.
I like Curielr a lot. I guarantee if you ask him, he’ll tell you it’s 100% on him.

You think that’s a no play, stand up sign?

Ugh. Yeah.

The disastrous pitching cost the game. When you walk the bases loaded bad things happen.

Literally gave lsu the chance to win cws with a catch in left and in right last night. He is one of the most clutch guys weve had in a while

Josh Pearson and Arrambide should never be out there with the game on the line
________
Bad take. Pearson is a good outfielder, with a cannon.

Ugh. Yeah.
Can I give you a hint?
Forget the signs, what do you think that Coach’s body language is telling you?

Lol kinda. He's telling him to stand up (with his left hand) and hold the bag (with his right hand). Basically telling him that he is going to beat the throw but that it would be coming in after so to stay on the bag.

His body language? He’s got a hand up and pointing at the bag. That’s come in standing and stay on the base

Are you referring to the fact that he is bending his knees? Idk what else to take away from his body language.

This is absolutely false. He’s telling him hold up and stand on the bag. Universal sign there. Why would he be pointing telling him there is a play? Why the hot mike “Tell him to f’ing slide?” You’re wrong here

You two are gonna honestly try to argue coach is telling Curiel no play, stand up in this moment?
Ok

Ok

Pointing to the base means stay on base. Don’t over run it. That’s not a slide signal.
Posted on 5/16/25 at 8:14 am to Meauxjeaux
I mean I don’t know their signals from a third base coaching perspective. Any team I’ve played on or watched pointing at the bag with one hand and holding the other up means stand up on the base. Jordan could have gotten crossed up, but nothing he was doing signaled that Curiel should be coming in hard diving. Not to mention, he should be directing his slide to one side of the bag or the other which he is not.

Left hand up means stop.
Right hand pointing at the bag means on the base.
Clear as day.

I'm not sure what you don't understand. Pointing at the bag doesn't not mean slide. If the coach wanted him to slide, he should have given him the signal to slide. There is a specific reason that they have those signs. I had a coach that would yell out something completely different than what he was signaling in order to confuse the 3rd baseman. You do what the coach is signaling for you to do.

ball is hit ahead of you and you’re at second

quote:It was a good call to run Braswell and try to get first and third. Curiel was most definitely, 100% told to slide. Lett hand up, right hand pointing at bag...that is SLIDE. Two hands up is on the bag. The things we say here with no basis in fact is mind boggling. Curiel read the ball poorly, it was hit 110 or more, it got out there quick.
But coach ran Bras and did not motion slide to Curiel.
