Agree 100%. I remember plenty of times in 2018, where we were complaining because Burrow wasn’t getting the ball out of his hands fast enough. It’s all about experience

Boutte's slant was wide the frick open when his plant foot hit.

Brennan needs to be able to see the off coverage on Boutte and make him hot. He should have called protection from Curry and hit Boutte, giving him a chance at a long gain, like we saw Jefferson do so many times last year.

Brennan missed the alignment read. Plain and simple.

get a gif of the Joe touchdown to Thad vs Clemson. Skalski free runner, Moss quick slant, joe anticipates and we get 6. Same play, same concept, doesn't require the GOAT to pull off

Middle receiver on the left side. Looks like outside-in is McMath, then Boutte, then Gilbert.

I’m still steamed that the offense didn’t stay on the field for the next play. You have another down punting shouldn’t have been an option.

But Curry has to pick up that guy on the right side. Ball should’ve come out quick to one of the two inside receivers - they both had inside position

Yep. Boutte’s defender sags on the snap. If that ball is out quickly as it should have been the defender has no chance to make a play on that ball.

It’s a throw that requires confidence and anticipation.

These are the things that takes playing in a game to understand mostly. You can simulate it some in practice but it’s never fully understood until you are on the field in a game that matters.

Slot is wide open on the in. Throw with anticipation and it’s a first down

Slot left, looks like Marshall is open from the snap. Brennan doesn't see the field before the snap. He's looking right all the way when the 3 wide is to the left and your best receiver is closest to him with a man off. Easy pickings for a good mentally strong qb. Sure they shouldve shifted Curry to block but the play was still there to Marshall.

That's Boutte. Marshall is on the nearside where Brennan was looking to go.

#1 vs #6 seems pretty easy to spot...

Unless you’re other worldly, there is no way he could have gotten that ball off and competed. This is a ridiculous take, but there are other things Brennan could be judge for.

Your fear is that the coaches will make changes to adapt to current personnel? JFC dude.

Watching that. Curry gave a piss poor effort.

I assume it was supposed to be an option route for him, he just kind jogs and turns around. Once the linebacker turns commits outside, he needs to plant and cut inside (where the blitz is coming from). It almost looks like Brennan looked to where the blitz was coming from but not a single LSU player filled that space.

Imo, outside of the late throw to the sidelines, this is a bad play to show Brennan's game. The only initial play he had was to lob it up to Gilbert.

Also, why the hell is Curry going out on a route. He should 100% be aware that he needs to stay and block.

Those slants are all open. He wasn't looking to Curry. He was looking to the nearside slant which was also open.

I can’t see where he even looks left. He looks at Curry pretty much immediately. The play may actually have been stepping into the pocket and between the gap between the center and guard. Could have run for it or tossed to receiver when defender leaves receiver to tackle Myles.

300 yards passing is meaningless when you can’t convert these plays.

Another stupid play to do an analysis on. Watch Brennans eyes and the way the rb reacted and was ready to get the ball.

I think this play 100% was called to go to the rb. Its obvious thats were Brennan is looking and the rb is ready to get it. Rb was covered up and it could have been an interception if Brennan threw to the play call. Also the defender was on him so quick he has no chance to progress thru the 4 other options.

It seems really dumb to pick out one play like this. I understand he didn't get the first down and we needed it, but I call that good defense. They took away option 1 (rb) and didn't give the qb enough time to go to option 2.

That kind of defense by Lsu would have resulted in a win.

We have the wide receivers to win these tight matchups

Play was designed for the Rb. Burrow probably would have known it was a bad play call before the snap and got out of it. Its a little much to expect Brennan to do the same in the first game.

Thats a bad play call. Brennan wasnt looking at receivers only at the rb.

This. It’s clear Brennan did not know what was coming.
