Okay, we all know who the greatest LSU football player ever is, no debating that at all, that honor goes to Billy Cannon. I think most, if not all, would agree with that.

My question is, after Billy Cannon, who do you believe is the 2nd greatest LSU football player ever? Tommy Casanova? Jim Taylor? Y.A. Tittle? It's definitely a toss up for 2nd greatest, I'm having a hard time deciding! Who do y'all think it is?

Kevin Faulk with Casanova being a really close number three.

I see the popular choice so far is Kevin Faulk, who more than deserves the spot as 2nd greatest. If he had won a Heisman, I might put him in competition with Cannon as the greatest ever, but Cannon is the only Tiger who holds that honor so far. Nonetheless, Faulk was a beast for the Tigers, if not 2nd best, then definitely top 5 for sure.

It's really hard to compare the greatness of a player from the 50's to one from the 90's FWIW.

Casanova is the only 3 time All-American in LSU history.

He was only slightly behind Cannon as a running back in IMHO, but his defense was years better. No slight on Cannon, as he is my number 2, but I think Jrob is the best Lsu football player in both college and the NFL

Meant to say Stovall, but said his Coach, Dietzel, instead. It was 27 years before I was born, cut me some slack.

True, it was a different era lsu2006, but a player like Billy Cannon would have shined in any era, the guy was a legend in his time and would be a legend in any other time. And the fact that back then players would play on offense and defense was a testament to their durability and athleticism.

All we can do is judge how they did against their peers in arguments like these. If not it is pointless
