It wasn’t so long ago that having an LSU quarterback in this spot seemed, to quote Princess Bride, “INCONCEIVABLE.” Las Vegas felt the same way, with Burrow hardly getting the “returning starting QB for a top 10 team treatment; Westgate LV Superbook gave him 200/1 odds to win the Heisman Trophy. Now he’s at 5/1, tied for second with Hurts and Lawrence and just behind Tagovailoa. That’s what going to Austin and passing for 471 yards and four touchdowns will do for you. No other quarterback on this list has had that kind of performance on that big a stage this year. And while it was hardly Burrow’s only moment in the sun — he hit on 85.2 percent of his passes for 278 yards and five touchdowns in LSU”s opener — that’s the reason he occupies the top spot.

It's pretty incredible to watch the evolution of our offense and to have everyone immediately take notice. Joe's a baller and deserves the recognition.

Amazing what happens when you let athletes do what they are able to do.

If we pass for over 250 on Florida, ill agree. Thats a nasty pass rush.

It will be really interesting to see how the offense holds up in SEC play. We really need some of the backup OLine to step up

I hope so. They are very aggressive.

We should come out with what Texas did to us early. Took complete advantage of how pumped up the D was and hit us with a screen.

Quick throws are a must.

If anyone doubts Joe Burrow’s abilities, the tough schedule he faces this year will alleviate them.

The key is for our OL to handle their assignments for 2.7 to 3 seconds and RBs pick up the blitz when they do blitz. Burrow knows where the go with the ball on the blitz...you throw to the space the blitz vacated. Our WRs and TE need to be on the same page and the closest or assigned receiver needs to fill that space. I"m 100% sure Brady, Burrow, the WRs, TEs, RBs and entire offense are working on that.

We will destroy Florida on offense. Grantham is a blitz heavy DC and Burrow is the best QB in the country when pressured

I think film reviews show good QB’s kill you, if you blitz, they are smart and know where to go depending on who drops out of coverage. Burrow showed a lot of that, some that is. Now, if they can get pressure with the front 4 down linemen, that when it’s a struggle. LSU can’t do that, or haven’t shown they could, except a couple of times, I think Lawrence and Chaisson are most likely candidates and have seen glimpses of their talent. We need DL to affect and change the game, and we don’t have that. Hopefully, some of the young guns the next few games can do this, but I still think we are behind on pure talent on the Dline, and will have to recruit and develop better....

I'm really excited for the Florida game. Though they don't have a great offense, it'll be the best test for the defense after the Texas game.

And while Texas has a lot of talent on defense, they're not a great defense collectively. Florida is. And that will be the first test for this offense to go toe to toe with one of the elite SEC defenses. Quite possibly the best defensive line we'll see this year.

He won the starting job last spring, but ole Urb wouldn't commit to him.
Thanks Urb.

I think both programs are beyond elated with the performance of their QBs. Fields has been great for them.

Think about this; Trevor Lawrence, who will be a Hesiman finalist, has all but assured himself that he won't hit 70% completion percentage on the year with this performance. And you said it's "not unlikely" that Joe does it. Do you realize how delusional you are yet?

As much as people rave about Trevor Lawrence, I dont find him to be as good at everything that encompasses being a quarterback. He clearly has God given talent and an offensive line to help that, but Joe Burrow is an all around better quarterback. Burrow beats him in confidence, leadership, ability to make plays, and timing the ball at the exact right time with great accuracy. Yeah Lawrence can sling a ball 80 yards with a tight spiral but I dont find he made leaps and bounds from last season. He gets a ton of credit for blowing Bama out in the NC.
