For me Arrambide would be a huge guy to get to campus. Love that kid's physical tools and mental make up. Arrambide set the Perfect Game combine record for POP at 1.70 and tied for the best ever outfield throw at 102 mph. Would also love to see Curiel obviously. Griffin, Schmidt (from Catholic), and Caminiti are looooong shots at best.
I fricking HATE kids being draft eligible out of HS.
Make them go to school for at least 2 years. Ratings increase and kids are more likely to make it long term. Plus fans will follow them into pro ball and increase pro ball #s

Or at least have an age limit before they can be drafted. Ayoung man could be drafted and sign for an MLB team and still need to wait 3-4 years before he can buy alcohol,, Really, biggest percentage of these kids aren't ready, I would also think MLB would be for this to have some track record of what they are getting before paying $$$$$ signing bonus to bypass college.

Has Frey ever tried playing 3rd? We've always found a way to stick a big bat there under Jay so far.
I think if Jones leaves then Larson should try to play 1B. He can spend the off-season adding some good weight and try to hit for more power next year. He doesn't look like a strong OF to me.

Pitching: Bringing Herring back would be huge. You also have to like the potential of Anderson, Cam Johnson, Moffett, Shores, Noot and Guidry. I like freshman Bateman and Rizy. Big boys that I think could contribute right away. Ware is also a JUCO that could contribute. I expect Jay to bring in about 4 new portal arms and hopefully they are top notch. Of course we also have more returning players that will contribute to the bullpen.

Another great post from you. Thanks.
4 new portal arms would be great, but I would be content with 1 if he is Friday night guy. We certainly have the potential for a good group of weekend starters with the list you mentioned. Last year, Jay made Holman his first visit. Wonder who his first visit is this year.

Daniel Harden has MLB tools but may need a year. Mainly power at the plate . Batted 270 with 38 strikeouts in juco.

Do you realize what you are saying here? Men should not be allowed to reach deals to sell their services? Why not make guys your age take a couple of years off of work to go to sensitivity camps or something like that? After all, maybe it would be good for you or something.

What about juco incomer Tanner Reaves at SS? He has a great post season.
I think he's bringing a great bat but not sure I buy him as a SS in the SEC. He was playing RF a lot this year at Blinn, not SS. He just had aHUGE national championship game in a win over NW Florida St though. 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and and HR.
If we nab that UL SS who is a top 2025 draft prospect, he's pretty much guaranteed that SS role. With Milam likely to stay at 2B and if Braswell returns...well, at least we have some really good problems to have in the infield.
But going back to Reaves as a hitter, the guy has a really good shot grabbing that DH role here. He ended the season at Blinn on a 14 game hitting streak, all of that pretty much in the postseason. 11 of those 14 games were MULTI-hit games. 12 of the hits across that stretch went for extra bases. His average had dipped to about .300-ish earlier in the season but he ended the season hitting .374 after heating up.

Griffin won’t make it to campus.
Dude looks like he could start in CF in the big leagues today

Losing Tommy and my guess is Braswell will go pro. My gut tells me Jay will find a way to convince Jones to return but that certainly isn't a given.
I am expecting to lose 50 HRs in White and Jones. Need to replace that biggly.

Plain and Simple unless we kill it in the portal will be an SEC Doormat that will take lumps and get pounded with Ft and Sophs. Zero starting pitching and all of our offensive production is gone.

No matter how many time you post the same thing, it doesn't make it any less dumber.

I believe Reaves played 2B as well

Harden: I looked at his profile out of HS. Didn't seem fast. .270 average with 8 HR at JUCO. Not highly ranked out of HS. Local kid and a lefty
I trust Jay on this one but my expectations are tempered

Frey has never played 3B but Jones has.
I think Frey needs to learn OF. He is capable at 1B and Catcher. If he hits, we will find a spot. I'm shocked he didn't have a HR this year. The power is there obviously.

Arrambide rankings have dropped some. He went from not going to make it to campus to probably a 50/50 chance.
It's always easier to get a kid to campus that is dropping then one that's rising.

You're going to make them go to school when most are getting 25% of a scholarship? What if they simply can't afford it or don't want to borrow money and get it debt?

What about Josh Pearson? Is he coming back?
Posted on 6/5/24 at 11:59 am to saturncube21
I believe Josh will be back to play with his brother.
