More upside than one of the highest rated recruits to ever reach campus? If that's not a Lester earl hot take, idk what is.

The grouping of Bronzini, Primeaux, Herring, Ackenhausen

cam johnson throws upper 90s and is not in this group, velocity-wise

Unfortunately guys will get hurt. I bet Little ends up in the weekend rotation at some point, maybe even to start the year while they bring Johnson along slowly. Jump probably takes a relievers work load to start the year, maybe he's the closer. Moffett will get his shot but he may still be another year away

Holman and Hurd should start the season Fri/Sat.

I'm betting Ack gets used like Cooper.

I'm excited to see Herring and Coleman take the next step. They should be good relievers for us. Loer excites me too

All I know is if our pitchers perform up to potential and stay healthy then this bodes well for Omaha where you need more than 3 quality starters at times just in case.

I'm surprised people are listing Coleman as a starter. He's not in my top 10. He just hasn't consistently reached his potential. I really just have him in the gravy category along with Noot, Shores, Appleby, Brown, Anderson, etc.

To me, Hurd, Holman, and Jump are the top 3. Johnson, Loer, and Herring are the next 3. Guidry and Ackenhousen are guys you trust in the clutch. Woods is probably somewhere around 9th. Hopefully Little and/or Moffett emerge. We kinda need another dynamic right handed arm which they would offer.

My gut still tells me Holman will be the Friday guy. He has the experience edge. He's been there and done the Friday prep before.

I think Hurd, Holman, and Jump can all be Friday night guys. Holman showed what he can do and participated in the collegiate team USA over the summer and did well. Hurd we know what he brings to the table. Jump is a wait and see but the potential is through the roof. He was ranked higher coming out of high school than Hurd a couple years ago. Was also throwing really well for UCLA before getting injured and if I remember right he was on the weekend rotation for UCLA before the injury as a freshman.

Not to mention a few other starter type guys we will have that is every bit of Saturday and definitely Sunday starter potential. Will be fun to watch play out. Of course you hate to say it, but we were talking about starting pitching depth last season also before injuries bit us. Guess you have to keep that in mind every year these days.

People do with Coleman exactly what they did with Money last year. They remember just a very few good outings, and ignore the majority, which hasn't been great.

If this pitching staff is as good as we think, Coleman will factor in very little.

To be fair the sample size we have seen from Coleman so far is as a freshman and rushed back from a major elbow injury. I'm a wait and see on Coleman. I think a group of Ack, Herring, Coleman, Loer, Primeaux, Anderson, Brown, and Bronzini all give you similar style from the left side. Will just have to see who out of that group will give you the most consistent outings.

I'd love to see an arm angle depiction of all of our lefties to really see how varied the looks are. I know Loer and Jump are unique.

I will say I was expecting a lower arm angle from Loer, but it hasn't been as much as I expected.

For sure. I used velocity to group them but the arm angles are definitely something I want to see. I haven't had a chance to get out there this fall. I basically used a 91-94 ish range based on Scubas reports.

I think Loer can tap into more velocity if he can put on a little more weight. If he can use the winter to try and put on weight and gain strength, he has the potential to get up around the mid 90s more often I think. He is 6-5 but 215lbs per the roster. I think he would need to get to about 225-230 with 10-15 lbs of good weight with some work with Yeskie and he would see his velocity tick up a bit.

I don't think Jay wants to keep going to the portal for experienced starting pitching.

I do. Every season there will be Thatcher Hurds, Gage Jumps, and Paul Skenes and Rhett Lowders in the portal. The teams that get them will be battling in Omaha.

There aren't any Paul Skenes or Rhett Lowders in college baseball this year at all let alone were any available in the portal.

ETA: Rhett Lowder was never in the portal either.

Coleman has MLB potential. If he can stay healthy I expect him to make a serious run at it.

Maybe Loer can add a tick on his FB, but he was consistently 90-92 this fall. A jump to say 94-95 may be a bit much in 3 months time.

Primeaux has been slept on a bit as a lefty at 93-94 consistently. He’s been effective out there.

I met Cam’s parents, as well as Ashton Larson’s mother last weekend. Super nice people and very excited that their boys are at LSU “for the next 3 years.” They knew each other prior to arriving at LSU.

Yea, that is a lot. 92-94 is realistic with a little weight added and working with Yeskie. With his frame he is just a little too skinny.

I am curious to see what Primeaux can bring to the team this season. That is a good point. In 10 innings this fall he has 15K/5BB.

I think series 1 it’s Holman, Hurd and Ack.
I don’t think that is the final first 3 though.

Seeing Loer in person, he is not skinny at all. Well built kid who stands out amongst a very big team. In fact got him confused with a thatcher Hurd one day, they are about the same build

Loer was skinny and throwing 84mph out of HS and wasn't highly recruited. He has added a lot of weight already and is fairly filled out. He might have a little more growing room but I wouldn't expect too much there.
