Best of luck to him, makes sense with both guard starters back and this was his last year of eligibility. We need to open up more roster spots as well.

Down to 15 scholarship Olmen by my count. Not a bad number IMO.

He will definitely remain on scholarship. There are injury/retirement scholarships for this purpose that don't count against the 85.

No i think this is knowing he is not going to contribute and letting him know now instead of waiting to do it after spring

He knows he is not an NFL player. This is a really smart decision to save his body the wear and tear. Maximize his education.

Good for him, that is a sign of maturity and being a great teammate. He was done seeing the field and not gonna be an NFL player.
