Maybe an unpopular opinion but it seems the problem with our offense is that because we're so ineffective in the red zone it takes a ridiculous amount of yards to get to 30-40 points. I know this is staying the obvious here but do you guys think this is something that with an entire offseason and basically all offensive starters (especially at qb) back can be fixed up by next year? I know we can't make halftime adjustments but maybe over a period of 8 months we can come up with something or maybe just wishful thinking

And the clock is running with each & every yard. Obvious that the game plan was to keep the high scoring O off the field. You do that with long sustained drives. We had the ball 40:31. THE stat that determined the W.

With the returning WRs, expected upgrade in the run game with the incoming RBs, a healthy TE & improved OL, & much easier schedule, the O could have a record book year. JB is only going to get better.

It's harder in general to score in the red zone because of a lack of space. That's why the success rate of two-point conversions is so low despite being so close to the end zone.

One thing I'd like Coach E to do is be more aggressive in early short yardage situations. We rarely if ever go for kill shots on 2nd and very short. What aggravates me even further is that the coaches seem more than willing to go for it on 4th and short after several ill-advised run plays producing little, no, or negative yards.

In short, I'd like to see LSU scheme to avoid the red zone more than I'd like to see them manage red zone offense better.

I think one of the things we lacked this year was a burner as deep threat. Recall this season, relative to years past and think about play action deep balls Burrow threw. We just didn't take many shots like that. I said earlier in the year that DJ Chark would have been a perfect piece in the offense, a role player we lacked.

I like Jefferson. He's a solid receiver but he's the closest thing we had to a deep ball guy and that's just not what he does best. He runs sharp routes, can get open on intermediate routes but hes not going to burn a DB deep all that often.

Totally agree, we were in 2nd and 2 and ran it yesterday and that was a great spot to go for the kill shot. Would love to see more aggressive calls from just outside of the RZ on first downs.
Finally, in the RZ, show run in power run personnel/formation then throw out of that formation and by doing that it makes you a lot less predictable in the future because now the defense won't be sure if you'll run or pass out of that formation with the same personnel.

False starts accounted for 2 of the stalls.

What the offense needs is better protection for JB. We saw on tuesday what he is capable of if he gets protection. That's the one thing I said about Tua in another thread is the one game I saw him get pressured a lot, he looked average. There is no doubt that Tua is a good QB and probably one of the best in college football but the difference in greatness at that position has a lot to do with the team you play for and the protection you get. You ever wonder why no modern day Bama QB has succeeded in the Pro's?

That's what I've stated in other threads about the o-line/recruitment,it's lacking from a standpoint of getting the prototypical tackles. I know it's hard to beat out other teams for the elite ones but if your offense is a little more tackle friendly(pass it more so they can showcase their pass blocking abilities and a better chance at the pros) you'd maybe land the elite guys.
With the prototypical tackles, your offense can be so much more dynamic.

Oh I completely agree with you. I thought the game plan yesterday was almost perfect. Also valid point about the penalties to causing the stalls too. it's just virtually impossible to beat bama or any great defense with that style because you're relying on being able to consistently get 4-5 yard or longer run plays when you need them, and with where we're at on the o-line right now, I just don't know how realistic that is. Still a great game and great season, alot of reasons to be optimistic about next year

Another side note but could you imagine that uga game if we scored touchdowns 75% of time we ended up kicking those field goals?
