2020 Bama did it against practice squads.
2019 LSU did it by making elite programs look like practice squads.

Show the 2019 LSU schedule vs. 2020 Alabama schedule and show the result of last year's LSU-Alabama game when LSU beat that roster.

For better or worse, Bama is the bar that the SEC tries to reach. Don't like it, but it is the reality. If you can't compare/compete, then you don't win the SEC and you probably don't make the playoffs, and that is the goal.

The real difference is that Alabama had games against teams that were Covid depleted, while LSU played games against teams that were at relatively full strength

They're both solid teams, and if it weren't for the people on SECR acting like total jackasses about this debate, I would be happy to give the Gumps their props they deserve. It's hard to compare the two very different kind of seasons, but in the end if you're having a GOAT debate, it's sensible to defer to the team that had a traditional season with 100+ years worth of champions to compare their worth to, to the Covid champion who had a one-off unique scenario.

Bama 6 new starters on defense this year. That is not the defense LSU beat last year.

Point being is that the offenses are incredibly similar in regards to statistics. Think the LSU O was more diverse and had more weapons and had Burrow, thus the overall edge. The similarity is striking though.

For those saying we played a much tougher schedule, that is not entirely true when you look at opponents records (LSU 117-78)(Bama 77-54) and opponents win% LSU (60%) and Bama (58%).

We had three rent a wins, but also had more quality wins.

The fact is that Alabama’s stars came back this year for a shot at a title while most other teams were decimated by opt outs and weekly sit outs.

The defenses weren’t close to full strength this year and Alabama’s senior team took advantage.

The SEC this year was MAC level and the MAC was SWAC.

I could have sworn it was 48.4 and 48.4 all night on the SEC Rant.

Is the Alabama exaggeration already starting? It's been less than 24 hours.
