This breakdown is the best representation of why ‘19 is the clear GOAT.

Everyone should save this and pull it up whenever this ridiculous debate comes up in your everyday lives

No you don't.

the defense was not that good.

Yes they were. They were even elite when healthy.

2020 bama should be in this conversation too

No, they should not.

I always remember the national championship presentation after Clemson when Fowler tells O “you beat ALL FOUR of the preseason top 4”. Nothing else would ever need to be said about this team.

The 2019 LSU offense can't be touched and football is a mostly offensive sport so I'll side with the offense. The 2001 Miami defense was also sick though. The LSU defense and Miami offense were comparable as well.

2004 USC was closely behind. 2020 Alabama as well. I don't think any others this century are close.

Are we gonna forget that Boston College had Miami 1st and goal down 12-7 then a miraculous interception turned pick 6 happened?

I don't think 2019 LSU was ever in a position to lose like that

They gave up 14 or more points in only four games. They would’ve lost those.

They gave up a touchdown in four games.
Penn State. 33-7, Miami 4 FGs.
Troy. 38-7, Miami 4 FGs.
Boston College. 18-7, Miami 6 FGs.
Washington. 65-7, Miami 1 Pick 6.

They gave up a field goal in one game.
West Virginia 45-3, Miami 3 FGs.

The had three shutouts.
Rutgers 61-0. Miami 4 FGs, 1 safety, 1dTD
Temple 38-0. Miami 1 FG, 1dTD
Syracuse 59-0. Miami 1 FG, 1dTD.

Id take lsu for the simple reason that offense is more valuable then defense, great offense trumps great defense

Growing up in Miami watching UM, the real difference is Burrow, and then WR talent. That Miami team is stacked but the QB isnt even in the same universe. Chase and JJ > every WR on their roster.

Miami would have at least 3 conference losses if they played LSU's schedule.

2019 LSU would host race 2020 Bama.

Bama got worse in 2020

everyone else just got a lot worse.

It's honestly not fair to compare the two eras.

LSU would spread them out and carve them up.

It's be nasty. 49-20 type nasty

Ed Reed and Andre Johnson are in the Hall of Fame.

It is possible, at least they are on the right track so far, that Burrow, Chase and Jefferson make it.

No college team has put their QB and 2 WRs in.

As for the matchup, Miami probably wins both lines of scrimmage. Auburn, Alabama, Texas and Florida hung close to that team. Miami 2001 is better than those teams. It's not the slam dunk some think it is, but I'd put my money on Burrow/Joe Brady in a close game.

Overall talent the edge might go to Miami

But the quality of QB play alone would give the edge to LSU

One matchup that is overlooked is Stingley was an absolute eraser on big #1 WRs like Andre Johnson. Johnson would have been pretty ineffective without an elite QB to throw it in tight windows.
