Watson will finally switch hit like he's listed in the lineup.

I think we have enough quality bats next year that we can put Dup at leadoff. I know Pawl loves him in a spot that can produce runs.

I think Watson would hit best in the 5th hole. Right behind Cabrera.

I'm excited to potentially see Willis at 1B.

I could see Turang in the 2 holes and Watson in the 5 as well.

I'm surprised he hasn't been added to a summer league roster. I'd like to see him gets some ABs.

Dugas is crushing it right now. He's going to push for playing time.

Same, maybe Mainieri is being very very careful given that he's coming off of that injury.

Which is fine because he'll have all of fall ball and spring practice to work his way into the lineup.

Off topic: It's not going to happen but if there was ever a time to get Storz some at bats it would be this fall.

Duplantis is the perfect "classic" lead-off hitter. But he's also been our best hitter and PM likes to put that guy batting 2nd.

Cabrera is a much better hitter. He went .315/.405/.525 to Duplantis' .328/.381/.443

Cabrera became a better hitter as the season went on. Either way, how does this relate to what I said?

You said Mainieri wants the best hitter in the 2 hole, that would be Cabrera. That would then free up Dups to hit leadoff.

Cabrera was a better hitter for the last 3rd of the season. That's about it.

That was a typo. I meant 3. Although many coaches put the best hitter at 2 now. PM still doesn't want Dup at leadoff for some reason. That's where I would have him. I posted the lineup if Turang is here.

Aren't we talking about the order for this coming season? Don't you think Cabrera is the better hitter going forward? I mean he already was as a freshman.

He's a completely different hitter. And next year, you will have the luxury of putting guys in position based on their skills. Duplantis is a better contact hitter while Cabrera has more power.

Pretty much. I think Duplantis has been our best pure hitter for the last 2 years. Probably for a 3rd year in 2019 as well.

He doesn't hit many HR's at all, but he makes up for it with doubles/triples. At least he has legit gap power at the college level.

Cabrera just has such a powerful swing. He can knock the absolute crap out of a bad pitch (as far as hitting is concerned). He has a bigger margin for error. He was also getting intentionally walked in the SEC Tournament.

Eh. Not really. He has the bat speed to hit it hard down the RF line. That's where most of his extra bases come from. He's never had any oppo gap power. And I wouldn't call pulling a ball that gets to the fence "gap" power.

He's a very low strikeout hitter. He works counts. He puts pressure on the infield. I'd love him at leadoff. But PM wants a true doubles guy hitting first for some reason.
