Josh Smith and Antoine Duplantis were both activated today in the Cape League. I assume they'll be in the starting line up for Harwich tonight against Bourne. So far, they are the only LSU players to be activated to a Cape League roster.

I think I'd take a chance with one of the newcomers at catcher. Coomes never impressed me defensively behind the plate in his few chances during midweek games and in relief of Papierski. And Catcher is one position that Mainieri will sacrifice offense for defense in a heartbeat.

Nick Webre was the best hitter in the state (or 2nd best due to Pearson) at 12 years old, FWIW. Cabrera was a year older (or playing up).
Obviously those things change over time but my point is that Webre didn't just now learn how to hit.

He's only the third guy to win Mr Baseball in Louisiana as a Junior. Not sure why so many people have been sleeping on him. I've said for a while he's my favorite guy in the class.

Hess will be a weekend guy. Sorry, I know having Psycho down in the pen would be cool but he's the best pitcher in staff barring Alex signs.
-Weekends guys: Hess, Gilbert, (Bush, Peterson(if available), maybe the typical LSU frosh pitcher??)
-Cabrera will win out right field over Breaux if he doesn't transfer out of fear of losing his spot. Have you watched Cabrera's tapes?
-Slaughter gets a shot a 3B/or both 2B before moving back 1st, and holding it down until he's gone. We plugged him in there, but he's nearing 6'4 220-230 at this point. Kid is large and in charge on 1B.
-If Nick's hip is fine, I think he catches. I could be wrong.
-Bryce ends up on 2B imo. He may see time at 3B.
-3B is my toss up. Incoming freshman, Bryce, Woley, we'll see.
Feel free to rebut, agree or say I'm wrong.
Geaux Tigers.

Jordan? Probably just been too long since he's played but I don't remember seeing him out there.

I do not see Bryce playing 3B or 2B if Slaughter is playing 1B. I'd flip those names.
If Slaughter is playing 1B it means some freshman stepped up defensively and took 3B or 2B from Slaughter. Slaughter doesn't have a question mark with his glove, his bat sometimes is a different story.
Just my opinion.

Slaughter? He's not that big

Is the goal to have every ball hit up the middle get to the outfield?

We're actually switching from baseball to slow pitch softball next season.

Jake Slaughter is 6'2.

Lord. I hope not.
There's about 5 guys I would give a shot at 2B before Bryce (Slaughter, Wooley, Templet, Broussard, Reid).

Add Hughes to that list, too.

Slaughter to 3rd Smith to SS Bryce to 1st. no idea for 2nd.

I think Slaughter plays 2B next year. I think he has the best glove/most range out of all of our options. I think our infield looks something like:
3B: Reid/Wooley/Templet
SS: Smith
2B: Slaughter
1B: Coomes (assuming he isn't catching)/Bryce/Stortz (if he plays both ways)
C: Doolittle/Feducia (sp?)
3B: Reid/Wooley/Templet
SS: Smith
2B: Slaughter
1B: Coomes (assuming he isn't catching)/Bryce/Stortz (if he plays both ways)
C: Doolittle/Feducia (sp?)

If you think that, then you want him playing 3rd.

He has shot up the radar quite a bit. I wouldn't mind letting him get some work at 2B in the fall, what do you think?
I don't know how much middle infield he's played, but it's certainly a possibility. It appears he has better speed than perhaps it's been advertised.
I wouldn't discount him in the mix at third base, either.

Id much rather slaughter at second and Reid at third than the other way around. Slaughter will get to more balls that Reid won't get to at second than he would at third.

Nick Storz
94 with the filthiest slider you've ever seen.
He'll be throwing on Friday nights before end of season.

Not a chance.

Mainieri likes a reliable glove at 3B, and that's where I think Slaughter will end up.. I'd like to keep him at 1B, but if Storz can play there and his bat is as good as advertised, put him there..
