So i'm not big into recruiting look some of you when it comes to baseball. I know the draft has happened and we have a good idea who is coming to LSU. What are we looking like for next year? I saw we lost Pearson, Pearson, Enlow, and Bechtold.

From the article I saw the two big names we kept from the draft were Cabrera and Storz.

C - We lose Papierski. Does Coomes move back to C? Or does a freshman like Doolittle make a push? Woley? Bryce?

1B/2B/3B - I assume Slaughter starts at one of these. Possibly see Reid start. Bat like Coomes at 1B if he isn't C?

SS - I assume this is Smith's position to lose.

OF - Watson has CF. Does Duplantis stay in LF or move back to RF? Start with Beau and possibly see a push from Cabrera?

Pitching is going to be interesting with losing all three weekend starters. Does Hess move to the weekend rotation? Does Gilbert go back to being a starter? Any freshman arms make a push like Storz?

I think Antoine stays in LF. I don't think he has the strongest of arms and fits better there.

Pitching will be interesting. I'm pondering what we do there. I would love to keep Hess in the pen and use Gilbert as a setup man. If he isn't needed in games 1 & 2 (of a 3 game set), then he would start game 3. No easy solutions at present but some opportunities for some to step up.

Everyone thinks Hunter Feduccia takes this, and I do, too... but don't sleep on Doolittle.

Cabrera has a pretty weak arm too, so if it's between him and Duplantis in RF, I guess go with the vet and move Cabrera to LF, I do wonder where Storz will fit in all of that when he is not pitching.

I know. Hess and Gilbert are our best options to close games. Downfall is to my knowledge I have no idea who starts games.

I figured if Beau is a starter in the OF our OF would be Beau(LF), Watson(CF), Duplantis(RF). Duplantis can cover a lot more ground in RF than Beau.

Outside of Deichmann, LSU under PM really hasn't had many strong armed OF's.

Not happening... with Walker's injury, we have no returnees from our rotation next year... Dunn's good but no chance we fill out the rotation with 3 newcomers. Gilbert and Hess will be Friday, Saturday to start the season.

I saw Storz was a two way player, but wondered if A) PM would play someone both ways, B) what is his natural position other than P?

Don't know much about our class.

I agree. Out of necessity Gilbert and Hess would probably be starters unless some of the freshman show up ready. Don't really have any other option besides Peterson from this years staff.

He played OF in high school and his bat is too promising to not at least make him DH, even when he pitches... He's also 6'6 so he could possibly learn 1B too if he hasn't already.

Sounds similar to Bret Eibner from Arkansas a few years ago.

If this is what he becomes at LSU, I will take that in a heartbeat... Storz could potentially be our Sunday starter though.

So out of the Freshman arms, Storz has the strongest possibility currently to break the top three rotation?

I feel like currently if we had to make a team from who we have that aren't upcoming freshman our defensive line up would be:

C - Woley/Coomes
1B - Coomes/Woley
2B- Slaughter
SS - Smith
3B - Reid
LF - Breaux/Beau
CF - Watson
RF - Duplantis
DH - Beau/Bryce

1. Gilbert
2. Hess
3. Peterson

Good thing a lot will change by the Fall.

In my opinion, yes, but with that said, If you would've told me at this time last year that Eric Walker would be our Sunday starter for the entirety of the season instead of Zack Hess, I would've laughed and disregarded your opinion of anything regarding LSU baseball.

So... I know nothing.

Haha true. I think almost everything at this point is speculation. Just getting a feel for how things may be on a slow sports day.

Walker was definitely one of if not the most consistent pitchers all season for us. Huge loss going forward.

I mean I remember this board melting over some SS that was supposed to be the next Bregman. He transferred out after his freshman year because he couldn't see the field.

If you're talking about Trey Dawson, I don't think anybody realistically thought he could replace Bregman. He had a good glove, but even coming out of high school, his bat was a huge question mark and that was proven true.

He did pretty well at Chipola this passed season and I think he transferred to Kentucky for next season.

Yea, Trey Dawson. I do remember his bat being a black hole. Was hitting like .100 or close to it.

He hit .111 in 27 games at LSU.
