Unfortunately, 2018 lives down to its #15 ranking. Only 7 guys from 2018 have proven themselves to be two-deep contributors, as compared to 20 of the 2017 guys

Shouldn't we wait until next year before making this statement? If 2017 class was so great, of course the following class wouldn't be contributing as much yet.

And yet just another reason to not believe the recruiting services. I have some shocking news for them - HE QUALIFIED and leads the nation in TD's and is third in yards.

I have shocking news for you. No recruiting service every claimed it was guaranteed 100% accurate, that all players would turn out and develop and remain EXACTLY where they were ranked. Compare Jefferson to the 76th ranked player in Louisiana in every other year

This class is a very good example of how inaccurate and subsequently irrelevant rankings are.

Look at the top 5 teams in the last CFP ranking. LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, OKlahoma, UGA. Those teams have top 10 classes almost every year. CFP Champions, Ohio State, Alabama, and Clemson are top 5 recruiting teams every season.

Recruiting rankings are not absolute in predicting how any given player's career will play out. BUT, they are an indication of teams who have the most talent.

Nowhere near the level of TM. T Mathieu was such a underrated prospect. He started day 1 and was immediate impact player.

Well, it was expected that he would not academically qualify. Never really in doubt that he would be at LSU once grades were in shape. He camped nowhere else and I’m not sure he visited anywhere else. He absolutely dominated LSU camp 2 years in a row. Not one person....thinks about all of the DBU recruits...could guard him.

Why was 2018"s class so poorly ranked/why didn't we get more high ranked players that year?

Services weren’t the only ones that didn’t think he was going to qualify, that’s why LSU didn’t offer until late and other schools didn’t offer at all.

It's my understanding that Jefferson did not camp so the recruiting services couldn't actually rate him. He was also hurt his senior year at Destrehan so all the recruiting services had to go by was very little underclassman tape. But LSU knew what they had in Jefferson because he hung around the program due to his connection with his bothers and the LSU football program. He actually practiced with the team and shined in practice. The coaches knew his talent was deserving of scholarship but Jefferson had to get his grades and test scores in order. Once he did that over the summer LSU offered. The rest is history.

Please correct me if I got anything wrong. But that's the general story of Jefferson's recruitment as I know it.
