We going to the ship next year

SlowFlowPro your leaving off the most important thing in factoring this years teams:
Injuries
and
lose of players for other reasons.
We have a number playing hurt right now.
As I told someone 3 weeks ago I will be very happy if LSU makes it to 11-2 with all the injuries we have had.
Look back at LSU history in football and no team has made it to a 10 win season with that many key players getting knocked out.

You mean like having the FB commit a stupid PF after a huge run that set up an early score?

We are definitely rusty defending the spread.
I can't agree, dreaux. Every time we play a good spread O we give up buckets of yards, get lots of turnovers, and win handily. The difference this time was the poor tackling by the safeties that resulted in two TDs in the first quarter. Without that this would have been by the book.

This has to be the stupidest post i have ever seen you make. Dude your smarter than this. Your over thinking it. its pretty damn simple.
This was a young, yet very talented LSU team. They were young experience wise at the most important position QB. They also suffered a rash of injuries at the offensive line. it takes time for a OL to gel and work together. The drops early in the season hindered the growth of Mett and visa versa. Now late in the season the game has slowed down for Mett and the WRs are catching the ball. Not to mention Jeremy Hill coming onto the scene. It just boils down to a young team coming into its own. Nothing bipolar about that. You see it every year in college football.

2012 team = young team playing 15+ freshmen, first year starting qb, retooled O line, suspended/dismissed playmakers who was beating #1 Alabama at the time with 50 seconds left.
Also, the drops in the first 7 games KILLED a Ton of drives
This in reality was an overhyped team.
I think next year could be special.

NOTHING at all like the 2006 team.
I was almost about to go into the game at tailback in '06, until Les finally let Keiland Williams dress out and watch a game and learn instead of putting him wherever he was beforehand. Aside from that, Justin Vincent, Fats Broussard, and a dash of discovering Hester was all we had. Hester was nothing we were expecting at all yet. This team has 4-5 capable backs. Terrence Magee would have had 10 carries a game in '06.
I do not see any similarities in Met and JR really, other than they both can be headcases. As good as Met's arm and pocket presence can be, there's just no comparing them. Hopefully, Met makes me eat crow next year and I think he will. Also, Flynn on the bench vs. Rivers?
WR corp of '12 has come a LONG way and I am thinking next year could be special. We still need another one. Kadron Boone is not Dwayne Bowe. Odell Beckham is not Early Doucet and Craig Davis was better than Jarvis is right NOW. This is no contest.
OL of '12 looked like a Chinese Firedrill from Auburn to Bama. They look like a formidible group now. The 2006 team protected the hell out of JR. They didn't open up gaping holes, but our RB's didn't respond to when they did, either.
They are some comparisions defensively, but not many.
This team is more like 2004.
I agree (rarely) with SFP. This team DOMINATED bad to avg teams (ULL, Zona, UK, Fresno, Miss State -- might have been the best offensive first half of football I'd ever seen from an LSU team -- and had one close encounter with of course, Ole Miss). BLEW the Irish out much worse than '07 beat up Buckeyes.
Auburn was a poorly felt-out game and we didn't realize how much better we were than they were. Arkansas then beats the crappy pants out of them. Florida was just one of those games. We helped them get to BCS c'ship with fumbles, penalties, and kickoff blunders.
Team has '04 written all over it...I would say we are much better, however. '04 had a stable of tailbacks, green qb's/bad qb's, WR's that remind me of ours now, who became great, and a defense that was salty enough to keep us in games like Troy and Vandy.

LSU dominated the best team in the country for a half, and should have won if not for some coaching brainfarts

we barely scrape by an absolutely horrible Auburn team (maybe the worst non-Vandy SEC team since LSU has been good again)

I mean you have a guy who goes complete goofball in front of the cameras, the idiotic fan base eats it up and thinks its cool, this encourages that behavior even more, and then people wonder why we have a bi polar team?
it's been that way since Les Miles has been here. (Here's my shocked face....ooooh)

Ole miss ain't bad and was clawing and scratching for a bowl game. . AU played the game of their lives that night they have given up We embarrassed them last year as we did Florida and ole miss. College football is the most dynamic sport in the world for a reason. Oline attrition/injuries and suspensions taken into account with our schedule and I am surprissed we only lost 2

IMO, key injuries and early season offensive struggles are the main reason. Also, the team seems very talented but sometimes has an underachiever mentality. We had a similar mentality last year but, without the injuries and with more experience, it didnt plague us as much.

2006 really came on strong offensively just like 2012.

I don't understand why ppl think that auburn win was so terrible...it was Metts first road start for one...and that was at the beginning of the season with auburn playing for its season on that night after a week of nothing but negativity for them. They have since quit but on that night played their arse off.

They might not be as talented right now with all the youth and injuries, but they certainly have done more in the regular season. In 2006 our best win was a close one against a four loss Arkansas that got beat 50-14 OOC. We had to have a last second td to beat UT who finished #25 to win that game. After that our only other win against a team with winning record was UK. That's really unimpressive. Now we played good in the Sugar but the only other two top 20 teams ND played that spanked them also.
I would not say our defense is imploding it's just not the 2011 defense. Remember that veteran defense in 2010 had five games as bad as the last two we played. This defense is still statistically way better than 2010. That's unbelievable considering how talented that defense was.

Yeah, I think this is a pretty easy team to figure out. They rebuilt the oline on the fly and had a ton of personnel losses. the team started slow and got better as the year went on, and especially as the oline gelled. Scene.
That's not strange at all, really. Rebuilding the o-line on the fly destroyed the offense in the first half of the year.

The 06 beats any team since then.

"The 2011 team would have beaten both our recent National Title teams IMO."
I tend to doubt that, especially if the 2007 team is in one of its relatively healthy times of the year. Both 03 and 07 likely would have make it very hard to run the ball and 11 struggled to throw the ball, especially with JJ. Offense in 03 and especially 07 were vastly superior to 11's offense.

I can't come up with a season quite like it. 2010 had some similarities, especially with Ole Miss, but I can't remember how LSU treated the weak teams that year. Tigers were very much in teh game with Auburn and who else beat us in 2010? I am repressing a bad memory.
