Talent wise - LSU 2011 and 2012 - Big Time Talent

CLM built what he wanted to build but his lack of concern to have a talented QB with offense creativity started his end at LSU. When I say concern above I think his ability is a better way of saying it.

We all know the story of the 2011 team - best season ever for almost any CFB team in history then - sad ending that de-railed LSU football. When I saw JJ's hands shaking as he waited for a early snap of the ball I knew we had no chance in his last game as a Tiger.

So now comes the 2019 Tigers and I look forward to the season. Who ever knows about the bounce of the ball and the winners in the 2 to 4 tight games that seem to always show up. The unexpected tight games that really good teams have to win and the tight games against Bama type teams that comes down to a few plays that you hope bounce your way.

Heres a fact - LSU fans and LSU football deserve some good bounces our way in 2019.

I think going into the season the main difference between 2011 team and the 2019 team is -Joe Burrow-Myles Brennan-Joe Brady

JJ / J Lee vs JB / MB - Joe is a leader and has more of all of what you want in your starting QB than JJ or J Lee. MB at the point he is at in his growth to becoming a starting QB is in a great place this season.

CLM was always the OC at LSU. He hired who he wanted to do what he wanted as his on the field OC. LSU always reflected the CLM style and that style would break down against teams like Bama and Georgia in the first half of the SEC CG in Atalanta.

We all know the story with CLM but we have yet to see if Coach O will let Joe Brady be and do what he is talking. If Coach O unlike CLM allows Joe Brady to bring his full book to the game. LSU could see 2019 be the year we break out of being the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC.

CSE has brought what he has but what he has is not enough for the next level. I know we all like to make fun of CEO but what I have seen in him is wisdom. Wisdom was the failure of CLM. CLM and ego allowed the mind-set of what I want to do is what we are going to do. Wisdom is saying I want to do what is needed to get to the place we all want to be.

I see Joe Brady as being a wise selection that could be the single hire to push LSU close to the level of Alabama football. In college football and having to play Alabama every year - that is where CEO has to get to if he is to be seen as a winner at LSU.

Looking forward to the Texas game - should be classic LSU football on display

An over-rated Texas team and only the few that see what could be happening in Baton Rouge

I am very happy with what I am seeing being posted on the Rant these days. The knowledge of the real Tiger fans on this board is shinning. This coaching staff top to bottom right now is amazing. It would be hard for any staff to match the 2001-2004 LSU football staff but I do like how this bunch is shaping up.

It is a crazy early ticket in Austin so instead of Austin I am planning to be purple in a sea of Long-Horns at a San Antonio local watering hole with my cousins. They are all Red-Raider fans but also love the Horns.

Let them play a game or two until we start comparing them to the most talented team LSU ever had

my take was not comparing them as in a record - undefeated is rare air but comparing them based on what we now do know

JJ/J Lee vs JB / MB

run left run right vs RPO with 3 to 5 WR per set

I like the feel of it

This team is the most talented team LSU has ever had

We’ve never had this kind of depth.

Ok but all 4 d linemen were drafted with 2 firsts and 2 third round picks
Minter was a 2nd round pick
Claiborne was a first. Reid was a first. Matthieu was a third but was the greatest player I’ve ever seen

All 4 rbs played in the nfl and Ware and Blue are still playing
Sheppard and Randle played a long time
3 o linemen were drafted I believe.

We have talent this year. A lot of it, and I hope we stomp everyone into the ground this year, but I don’t know if we will ever have as much as 11

This is wrong. Say what you want about Cam Cameron (I wasn't a fan) but he was an NFL offensive coordinator, and he was the OC at LSU.

He ran the style of offense Miles wanted, sure, but Ensminger is going to run the style Orgeron wants in 2019. That's what a head coach does - he gets the right guys in place to coach the way the head coach wants.

This Miles/Joe Brady stuff is just ignorant fans talking. In 2011 the OC was Cam, and in 2019 it's Ensminger.

i’m not trying to compare over-all talent

i’m pointing out QB talent and coaching

I think we are better off on both of these

Brady isn't the OC. And what little we have seen from Brennan. Jordan and Lee are better by a fricking ling shot. Both those guys were winning games as freshmen, we were fricked if Brennan had to start last season.

While I think Joe will be great for us, he had stretches of not throwing tds. We aren't going to win if he doesn't improve as well.

Using Joe Brady as a reason why the 2019 team could be equal to arguably the greatest college football team of all time is bad and you should feel bad.

Only thing I don’t like about JB is he takes to long to get rid of the ball. If he improves this aspect of his game we are in for a great year. If it ain’t there throw it away or haul arse.

2011 team was way more talented than this team. The only advantage this team may have over the 2011 team is the offensive scheme and a better QB. We still scored a lot of points and blew teams out the water though in 2011.

2011 defense was a lot more talented than this years defense, and we’ll probably never have a defense as talented as the 2011 defense. Also the OL was better in 2011, the WRs were better in 2011, and we had more talented RBs.

No team will ever be as talented as that 2011 team but we have the opportunity to have as much success because we shouldn’t be as predictable offensively.

Don't hold your breath on that one. Bounces happen but they don't favor us. We just need to beat teams handily enough that unfavorable bounces don't mean the difference in a game.

2011 was the greatest team in college football history. No team will ever accomplish what it did.

Having Burrow (and maybe Delpit) on the 2011 team would have been nice. Beyond that, there's no comparison. No offensive or defensive lineman on the 2019 team will get drafted in the first two rounds. I don't really need to say any more than that.
