Gee, is this the thread for people who want to complain about LSU national championships? After this can we do the one where we talk about how unpleasant steak and blowjob day is ?

I was there and had a pretty good time. Seems like the LSU crowd was having a fairly decent time as well. Some were actually yelling.

it's a pretty boring game to watch in retrospect

Sorry but you are spoiled. I'm the same. After watching replays of this season repeatedly, other games are boring.
Its surprising how quickly we change our point of reference.
I watched a replay of the 07 SEC Championship (RP). I was surprised how mediocre RP played even though he was MVP.
I had the same opinion of the 07 Championship.

Brennan has a lot to overcome. Just winning will no longer be enough. He has to dominate. ;)

Turnovers galore.

And one huge non-turnover that could have changed the outcome. The Addai fumble/non-fumble could have gone either way.

The tipped ball in endzone almost took my life.

It should have been LSU vs USC.

I do believe the usc offense was really good but their sos was nowhere close to LSU
Usc had talent on d too

The bcs formula was way better than any committee
And got it right

Mauck threw for 3 interceptions

TWO not 3

it was a great game. great defenses on both sides.

nailbiter over and over as defense made huge stand after stand. everyones nerves were shot after that game

it was not terrible. winning a natty is never terrible.

Thankfully that D was dominant because Mauck became a liability in that game!

The game ended in a punt. I couldn’t enjoy myself at the moment because I was terrified it was going to get blocked again or returned for a touchdown. When I saw all the players celebrating on the field, it was a great feeling being able to see LSU win a championship in football. I thought I would never see that day.

The best team in the country didn’t play in the game

Nope. Everybody remembers USC as this uber-talented team. But in retrospect, LSU was the more talented team.

USC had the flashy stars, but those guys were mostly overrated and went on to have short or lackluster careers in the NFL, including Matt Leinart, Lendale White, "Big Mike" Williams, and Keary Colbert. I don't include Reggie Bush on that list because he went on to have a solid career even if he was a disappointment relative to his draft position. USC's best players were actually guys like C Ryan Kalil (5x Pro Bowler) and Steve Smith (future Pro Bowler who rode the bench for USC in 2003).

In contrast, LSU started 3 future Pro-Bowlers in that year (Laron Landry, Kyle Williams, and Andrew Whitworth), and it had 2 more on the bench (Dwayne Bowe and Joseph Addai). Throw in some guys who straight up balled out that year like Michael Clayton, Corey Webster, Marcus Spears, Chad Lavalais, Marquis Hill, and Justin Vincent ---

LSU would have controlled the LOS on the both sides of the ball and the game.

Mauck was bad in that game. I always remember people thinking we were some offensive powerhouse under saban for some reason and I was like shite, we got out of that game barely because of defense.

Only a spoiled internet douchebag would say the game was "terrible." I was there. It was incredible. Anyone who pretends they thought we'd dominate is lying or stupid. OU was a machine that season until Jason White was injured against Kansas State. That OU team had as many award winners as the 2019 LSU team. That LSU team had only played two top ten teams - Georgia twice - and barely escaped a war in Oxford. It was a glorious win.
