2 worst calls of the game: 57-yard FG attempt & 4th & 10 from our own 20

1.) The 57-yard FG was stupid because we knew our kicker was very unlikely to make it and missing it meant flipping the field for Bama and giving them the ball near the 50-yard line.

2.) Going for it on 4th and 10 deep in our own territory. We were only down by 11 points with over 8 minutes left in the game. It was way too early for that kind of desperation and failing to convert basically put the game out of reach and ended it right there.

I expect better in-game decisions than that from Lane. That was bush-league crap.

It was still early in the game (first play of 2Q). The miss didn't completely "flip the field". It gave Alabama the ball at their own 38...which is only 13 yards further than where they started their first drive of the game (25 yard line). Was there an argument to be made that punting the ball was the right call? Absolutely. But you did not give them the ball in your territory and I suspect you felt your defense could get a stop if you missed.

I didn't think that was an egregious decision at the moment. It's only with the benefit of hindsight know that Alabama scored that makes is bad.

No excuse for that one. It was an impulse decision by a frustrated coach. While it may not have been ideal, there was plenty of time to be able to get a couple of stops and two scores (one of which only needed to be 3). Instead, you went for a low % play late in the game that you knew ended the game if you failed.

We will never beat Bama with the awful coaching we watched Saturday.
Bama is really a good not great team this year. Our roster was good enough to beat Bama but our coaching was dreadfully deficient especially in the last ten minutes of the game. CLK should be personally embarrassed by the product on the field. Coaching was just totally awful.

Kick the FG in the 2nd qtr then in the 4th we would have only been down by 8. Punt the ball on that 4th & 10. In games like these points matter get them early when you can.

Even more of a headscratcher when we decided not to go for it on 4th and 1…

the 4 and 10, the fame was over if we give them the ball there in any way. On down or punt. It wasn’t in the top 40 of bad play decisions.

You have to ask yourself, do you play to win or play to see how many points you lose by. We're down 3 scores with only 8 minutes left to score three times.

I have no problem with what he did in that instance.

Probably because you can't do math.

LSU was down 11. That's two scores (including a 2 point conversion)
