Some significant news ahead of #LSU's game against Ole Miss.

Rebels WR Elijah Moore and TE Kenny Yeboah just announced they won't play vs. LSU as they begin to prep for the NFL Draft.

They combined for 59% of the catches and 60% of the receiving yards for the Ole Miss offense.

Per Shea Dixon

We should definitely benefit greatly from this on the defense side of the ball.

But yet they’ll probably be applauded for getting their money. I agree with you btw

Rebels WR Elijah Moore
Piss on him...

ETA: For those who don't get my post's meaning, this is Elijah Moore last year in the Egg Bowl. The penalty he drew for doing it eventually led to Miss State winning the game.

No way that’s true. I was assured that “opting out” was an LSU problem only due to our “culture”.

This attitude is toxic and very dangerous to the future of college football.

Why? What is seriously the worst thing that could possibly happen to the team that these players opting out would be directly responsible for? Lose a college football game in a year where they have already lost 5 games? Oh no!!!! How will they cope??!?!?!!!

The silver lining for Ole Miss fans is this LSU defense will definitely show them who their future receiving playmakers are going to be.

Somebody explain this to me. It seems like acceptance of a scholarship should require a player to play so long as he's not injured or sick. I realize that's not how it's going now, but can you imagine what would've happened to us if Joe Burrow or CEH had opted out before the NC??

False. All it will do is force these colleges who are making millions off these players restructure how they compensate these players.

It’s literally no different than employees saying “I’m not going to do that amount of work for that amount of pay”. This is how capitalism works.

I'm sure this has been hashed out ad nauseam on this forum (I haven't been on in a few years), but there is an agreement that the players have made with the school. No one forces them to accept an offer. They get, in return, tuition and training and, often, preparation for a highly lucrative NFL career. I'm not saying there shouldn't be a different form of compensation for college athletes, but these are the obligations as they stand now, and they aren't meeting them.

Why should they? These schools have zero loyalty to these players. If the school is not benefiting from a player, they cut them. Same thing.

False. This is technically a “make up game” and not actually being played within the confines of the original season. Ergo, they have completed the contract as it states a “season” not “X number of games”.

I’m more worried about their running backs and QB’s

Dude, if we were playing in a bowl, it would be the same thing. They are expected to play in the games we play. Like I said in a different post, what if Burreaux and CEH opted out for the natty? You would be crapping yourself.
