It’s literally no different than employees saying “I’m not going to do that amount of work for that amount of pay”. This is how capitalism works.

And the other obvious point is that an employee who won't do work for a given amount of pay makes that clear BY NOT ACCEPTING THE JOB. An employee who takes a job for a certain amount of money and refuses to do the work VIOLATES his contract, for which there is generally a financial consequence.

So that’s another word for the quit on their team and their teammates typical for today’s players

So what happens when the top 2 to 5% get compensated at levels far above the others because they are using their names...exactly what's happening now but in reverse. You can just hear the conversation...screw him see if he can block that guy....thud.

By the way just how many grads in science, education and other degrees get multi million dollar multi year contracts...those athletes get compensated for their college performance...period.

I will go further: if you opt out of the season or bowl game your scholarship gets pulled, access to training facilities, school-housing, cafeteria, whatever comes with it all ends - like at the end of that week. All of that is compensation - you quit and it quits too

Devin White didn’t opt out and has spoken against it even when his teammate at the time Fournette did. It seemed to work out great for him. Guess the karma police got that one right.

PS he also reemed Ariq for doing what he did. Now he did say he was still a youngster and has some growing up to do but i think Devin has this one figured out. Hey Devin give that young man a call, we would love him to come back!!!!!!!!!

This attitude is toxic and very dangerous to the future of college football.

Lol, yall are stupid. It's the middle of December. If bowl games actually mattered this year, their season would have already been over by now. They're trying to prepare for the next stage in life, and I bet their teammates understand this, and I bet they knew in advance too.

You realize that this is only one year, right? If this becomes the norm, it'll happen next year when regular-season and bowl games matter. This is an unfortunate trend, and schools would do well to disincentivize it.
