Imagine the strike 3 call at the 6:07 mark happening today

While I love the thought of this, they did beat us in the first ever super regionals two years later. Jim Wells put some good teams together.

Was that the game when their slugger Roberto Vaz stepped on a baseball and injured his ankle? Or did he do it prior to the NC game?

Vaz broke his foot stepping on a baseball in warmups before Bama's regional championship game against USC. He was Bama's leading hitter and also their best pitcher. No way to know what would have happened at the CWS if he hadn't been hurt, but Bama was definitely more dangerous with him in the lineup.

I was there. Before the game we talked to an older gentleman while Doug Thompson warmed up pregame. When Doug got shelled and every pitch after him we didn’t think much of what we said until Sunday when we realized it was Doug’s dad. Super nice guy and apparently we didn’t bash him as would this board if it was around.

Everyone knows LSU hit at least one home run in every single game.
How many know that LSU went to the bottom of the 9th of a game at UGA with a lead and no homer? UGA tied the game in the bottom of the 9th. Then Clint Earnhart homered in the 10th and the Tigers won the game and kept the homer streak alive.

It’s literally on the line of the other batters box

I remember that ump. His strike zone was generous to say the least. And he was very animated on his strike 3 calls.

Those outside strickes were given in 2017 when Caleb Gilbert struck out all of those beavers. OSU was pissed but their pitcher refused to throw out there and the ump kept calling it.
Helped LSU but some of those pitches were at least that far out

Do y’all realize how many runs a game would have been scored if the strike zones weren’t batters box to batters box? Players were coming back to the dugout with stinging hands from balls that hit the end of the bat, and yet the ball still left the yard.

I was there. After the game at the team doubletree hotel, Skip grabbed a microphone in the lobby atrium and gave a speech about the "spirit" of human success. There were LSU fans hanging off the side of every floor of the atrium looking down onto the lobby watching and listening. Amazing moment and of course the hotel erupted at the end. GEAUX TIGERS!
4 of us rugby players from LSU were in Albuquerque that week training for a tryout for the All-American squad and a spot on the US collegiate national team. None of us made it.

But we were on a practice field at UNM the when one of the coaches announced "You Louisiana boys should be proud. LSU just won the College World Series!"
Great memory!

1997!
Yeah, the Good Ole days when you could attend an LSU football game and still have the full raw and unsanitized experience in Tiger Stadium.
It was just the TGBFTL and rabid LSU fans making a lot of noise with their mouths!
As opposed to the current sanitized and neutered TS that's full of Corporate give-a-way freebie fans and Wine & Cheese "Look at Me" fans being blasted away all game by the PIM garbage concert..........
