It was WILD!! People kept throwing oranges on the field, even after the referees penalized us for doing so. It only made the team get that much more fired up. After LSU got a big lead, a thick fog rolled in off the river and Florida State pretty much had to run the ball. They could never catch up.

I was a freshman in the student section. If you think that was good, you should have seen the scene at the end of the game. When people ran out of oranges, they started throwing their seats on the field. Or anything they could get their hands on. Cops everywhere. Students all over the field. Fights. It was glorious.

This was actually my 1st visit to Tiger Stadium. I'll never forget it. I was 16 years old and my dad surprised me. I'd never been to a college game before. Been bleeding purple and gold since.

I watched a student stalk an EBR deputy the entire length of field, and from about 5’ behind him, bean him in the back of the head with an orange.
From there, the chase was on. He made it back to the student section, trying to climb fence back up, and they caught him. Beat the ever loving shite out of him with those big arse wooden batons. I saw them carrying his bloody body off to jail.

That was my favorite game ever. I’ve seen LSU win Sugar Bowls, SEC Championships, and a National Championship. ‘82 Florida State is still my favorite game I’ve ever attended.

I was there in the student section. My days at LSU coincided with the Jerry Stoval era (and fortunately the Dale Brown heyday). I consider the Night it Rained Oranges the high point of my time in the Tiger Stadium student section.

I was there, too, in the student section and my favorite part was the oranges hitting the end zone when it was obvious Dalton Hilliard was going to score…oh, Hilliard was still at the 5 yrd line when it happened. 1st quarter! Awesome!
