Who is claiming 1908?

Looks like the Penn Quakers. Tell them to meet us at sonic.

Why? Actually 2008 was the time to go it really.

Why? Cause I don’t have a time machine. Look, I agree. 2008 would have been perfect , 100th anniversary of that season.

They had a golden opportunity to add it on the heels of the 2019 championship too, but they didn’t or chose not to.

So next best chance at this point in time is if we have enough vocal public support and then maybe we can get it formally recognized next time we win.

But you wouldn’t just do it some random off season of a random year where we just finished 5-5. Not the best look or timing.

Why add it and take away from the announcement? Why add it while you are celebrating a NC already?

We should have already added it. Waiting for another NC doesn’t make sense. You don’t wait to right a wrong. It’s either worth doing right now or not at all.

Next best opportunity should come with our next National Championship.
So we do it next January? I’m OK with that!

Should have been done in 2008 as some kind of memorial event for the 1908 team.

1908 Title Question?
Because it is 2021(!!!) and today's generation we do not care about "claiming" championships from over 100 years ago

Today's generation is a bunch of self absorbed retards.

We are the recognized champions that year by the NCAA. To me, failure on LSU's part to accept the 1908 Championship is a dishonor to the players from that team and their descendents!!

I’ve read a lot of threads on claiming the 1908 Title. I know there is a lot of people in the know on this site. My question is - why doesn’t LSU claim it?

I’m surprised nobody has come out and said lt….it was apparently pretty widely known that they were paying players at the time.

Claim it. We were 10-0 and were named National Champions by authoritative organizations in the pre-polling era. Penn has their claim, but our claim is legit.

While we are at it let's put Doc Fenton in the Ring of Honor.

This guy feel like LSU shouldn't be in the conversation in 1908, although the National Championship Foundation did vote LSU as co-champs with Penn. He feels it should have been Harvard, who was voted national champs by Billingsly.

Go out and earn a championship now.

If they can call themselves UL, a name they never officially had; we can call them USL a name they once held.
