Got round trip tickets on Delta from MSY to Orange County airport for $490, including all taxes and fees.

Alot of my LA friends say going through Dallas is a better drive than through San Antonio.

Los Angeles is on Interstate 10. Why would you drive northwest to Dallas and get on I-20? Just curious...

I've done it several times. It sucks till you get into New Mexico, Arizona and California, then you kinda get a rush. Mainly b/c you are out of Tex arse and LA is just over the San Gabriel Mountains.

i love driving. if i had the time i would drive everywhere. don't get me wrong, i'm all about flying when there's time constraints, but i'd rather drive just to see this country of ours.

Maybe they live in Shreveport, Ruston, Monroe, etc.

Maybe so, but it just sounded like they were choosing I-10 vs. I-20.

Directions: Go west on I-10, stay on there for 2 days. UCLA on your left.

Sorry to inform Boudreaux, but he'll get lost. From the 10 Freeway (I-10) going west, UCLA is north, or to the right of the freeway. Plus Jackie Robinson Stadium is not on the UCLA campus. It's close by, but it is not on the campus.

Just made the drive for Memorial Day weekend. Moved out here to Southern California. 1-10 from Prairieville all the way to Phoenix and on to San Clemente, CA; about an hour south of Los Angeles. Took me around 26 hours of driving. Spent one night in El Paso. Averaged 80-90 mph.

They said it does not add a lot of mile to your trip and you avoid that long stretch from San Antonio to El Paso where there is nothing. They said the other way has more small towns if something happens.

True. Unless you have multiple passengers.

Driving through Dallas instead of Houston from Baton Rouge to L.A. only adds 60 miles (according to mapquest). Never thought driving that way to southern California but it does take the boring drive from SA to EP out of the picture.
