Was gonna ask why we had a freshman in the floor anchor position over Bryant.
That 1st tumbling pass answered that!

Drayton is gonna be in the vault and floor lineup every week IMO
She is too good to keep out

Who’s the Middle Aged baw with the grey LSU shirt and camera weighing about 350? Don’t little creepy at all.
Don't know his name, but he has been photographing LSU sporting events and other things for years. He is a damn good photographer.
I shot my first LSU gymnastics meet in 2009 when you could walk up and get a ticket and pretty much sit anywhere you wanted because there were maybe 500 people there. And that guy was there.

Nice start. Hope we can go all the way this season.

What we learned tonight is this team is deep but landings not polished but they looked good on vault, bars and floor. Its only week one.
Beam, they are going to have to go to the drawing board and adjust Konnor's routine for the long term IMO. She has been injured for a bit and is trying to gain confidence, she needs something a little easier, adjust the leaps tomorrow.
That 2 spot in the beam lineup is gonna have to change and it will be musical chairs probably. I'm guessing Beard and Coen get reps here.
Outside of that the team is loaded, the kids who came back from injury are trying to shake off the rust.

He just looked completely out of place over there. Got a bunch of little cute gymnasts and this middle aged dude hanging around with a camera. I’m sure he’s a good photographer.

Chris Parent has been head of LSU sports photography for awhile.

I have no confidence that any adjustments will be made. It’s the same thing every year. I just hope they put the right people in. Sierra should not have been on beam. I know we must have better options with all these new freshmen and transfers. Or others who have a little experience like KJ and Bryce.

I'm hoping they were just trying get everyone a little work, although a few didn't get any.

I think Brock is gonna end up in the vault lineup, Drayton 100% earned a spot in the floor lineup, they are going to have to find someone for that 2nd spot in beam. I mean you have Beard, Coen, Bryce, Dunner, KJ, Sav etc, too much talent not to develop a routine in this spot.
Konnor is going to be a game changer for LSU on beam but considering all the injuries she has come off of, not competing in a very long time, dealing with all the personal issues in the background, I'm just unsure why they didn't ease her into NCAA with her beam construction. Let her get confidence and add layers onto it. That would have been the smart thing to do instead of coming out guns blazing. Hopefully she hits next week. She is a critical piece to this LSU beam lineup

Ok, so I was at the meet and want to give my thoughts:
Overall, we were lucky to come away with a win, and it’s too early to be very concerned, but WE.HAVE.GOT.TO.FIND.CONSISTENCY, especially on beam.
Also, feel bad for Alyona and that hurts our depth because she was no.7 for me on almost all events, so that’s unfortunate.
Vault: this is a good start at a lineup. Eventually, I don’t want any fulls. Aleah seems to be dialing in on that front landing, but I’d like to see other 1.5s also get a shot. We maybe should hold the double for Kiya for a while and bring it out when we really need it. And like everyone else, questioning where Brock was - maybe sick? I also think Schoenherr will dial in - since she was injured last year, it’s really been almost two years since her last competitive vault.
Bars: this lineup has the makings of being great. We probably lost 4 tenths alone on landings, which I assume will come over time. The judges proved tonight they are ok with Kiya’s set as long as it isn’t the lead off. My question was why was Konnor’s score so much lower there - I know she didn’t stick but I thought it would be 9.85-9.9 range based on the scores for others.
Beam: this is really the heart of the matter. If Ashleigh Gnat can’t put together a consistent beam lineup with the talent she has this year, then it will be time for her to go. I also don’t think Sierra is it - her leaps will be hammered and right now she doesn’t have the consistency which is the thing you put her in for - try Beard, Cohen, KJ, Dunne, Wilson, Schoenherr. It is of the utmost importance however to get Konnor back in the saddle next week - she is absolutely part of our highest scoring beam team. I hope Kiya only tweaked something, so let’s keep our fingers crossed on that. But honestly with a back four of Konnor, Haleigh, Kiya, and Aleah, which be capable of counting only one score below a 9.9. Ashleigh must figure out the mental game for them.
Floor: our best six at the end of the season will include KJ, Amari, Aleah, Haleigh, and Kiya. The other spot can be a number of others - Sierra did great today and I am happy for her after beam, but I think she is probably not top 6 with her leaps in post-season - I could be wrong, but time will tell.
Interested in everyone else’s thoughts and Tigerbait, any idea when we get back our sticky on the recruiting page - I like football but am over the recruiting process, lol

I believe Kiya had some cramping in her legs during her beam set, at least thats what I saw online. She is good though so we don't need to stress over her.
Was a little surprised to see them throw Kiya to the AA this year, I figured they would have eased her in coming off the achilles tear

I don’t know if y’all are watching super 16 but man the scoring for ou on fx is laughable compared to other teams at this point.

Honestly, OU looks like OU. They are going to be hard to beat.

LSUs post season success will come down to how well they develop beam and bars.
I lose no sleep over LSUs vaulting and floor, they have 2 sets up lineups that can score big, it’s that deep

At least we got one wish: Kiya is further down in the bars lineup.
