And has been nominated for the Walter Payton MOTY award....

He would have had a shot if he had not been suspended. Ron Brooks balled out in Badger's role in the game he missed.

Best high school player I’ve ever seen. Watched St. Aug vs West Monroe in Tad Gormley Badger’s senior year. Seriously next level talent even on a field with like 12 D1 players starting.

Somehow I forgot that Ball was only in the league 2 years. Dude was amazing in college.

I remember Herbstreit saying that he should be the winner, but he wouldn't win because he was suspended and had character concerns. The year before they gave it to Cam Newton and then they decided to give the award to Jameis and Johnny Manziel.
But Tyrann's weed smoking was a bigger character concern than all those guys' issues

When did this happen in 2011? The only game he missed was Auburn

You answered your own question. He was suspended for the Auburn game.

So he didn’t win the Heisman because of a 1 game suspension
A defensive player had no shot against RG3 & Andrew Luck

I don't think he would have won, but without the suspension and if you added Brooks' Auburn stats to Badger's, I think he comes second.
Herbstreit was saying Badger was the best player in the country, but he was suspended. If he had been saying this dude is the best player in the country with no "buts", Badger gets a huge boost.

Unfortunately, winning the Heisman is no guarantee of success at the next level. For every Reggie Bush, there is a Tebow or Manziel.

Andrew Luck should have been an allstar. Fully a victim of apathetic ownership...

This was during the BCS championship game announcement iirc. I was in the team meeting room when Herbstreit initially said he should win because he had that amazing year, everyone cheered. After a short pause, he continued by saying he wouldn't because of the suspension. Dead silence

They used to pretend that having a high moral character was part of the criteria and selectively applied it to TM7 that year. Without the suspension he would have been a finalist at the very least.

He was a finalist with the suspension.

The most electric player in college football that year. His highlight reel is unbelievable. He turned games around with his play alone (SEC Championship game). Damn that was an amazing defense.
