That's why we cannot beat Bama. Until we get a QB who can routinely complete 65% of his passes, the offense will never be complementary and, thus, will never be able to defeat the Tide.

Who is responsible for the ongoing dearth of capable QB's? Ehhh? (Hint: it didn't start yesterday.) Seems like there's some kind of anti-QB force field surrounding this program. Ever notice that?

The only thing Etling has going for him is he’s tough as hell. He plays his arse off!

The problem is his skills are limited. He doesn’t have the arm strength to hit a receiver in stride or zip a pass down the field with velocity. It’s not his fault, it’s just the hand he was dealt.

In this offense you need a QB with big arm and with some mobility. That’s why I’m pulling for Narcisse to step up in the spring and give Brennan a serious run for the starting job.

Not being critical of Brennan here, but in terms of being the silver bullet, that's just not reasonable.

Remind us what that got us last year. I seem to have forgotten.

DJ Chark caused a lot of these incompletions. He made a small turn in the end zone on the long pass. He didn't catch a pass that he had in both hands that was thrown short. He didn't came back for the ball on the underthrow when the Alabama defender was on top of him, that would have been at least called pass interference. A great receiver helps out the QB. We don't have OBJ and the Juice type receivers on this team to bail him out. The lack of elite receivers hurts this team as much as the QB.

I think a more pass oriented offense from Canada will bring in better QB recruits.

DJ Chark
is gonna do well in the NFL, IMO. He hasn't had a QB that can hit him in stride and he plays frustrated some times. OBJ and Landry had a QB who actually hit them in stride and threw good passes.

Chark has never had that. He can beat his man on nearly every play and his QB throws the ball late and at most 35 yards. Stop blaming him.

The lack of well-run receiver routes is evident and needs to be addressed as does the entire route-tree scheme. Too many long, time-consuming routes. Not enough screens, hooks, or slants for short yardage. None of this has anything to do with who the quarterback is.

Lack of discipline and execution have plagued this team for years... It's like nobody thinks it important.

But most of the Rant thought he could beat Bama yesterday.

He could have. Missed 3 wide open TD passes that 99% of other QB's likely make (not counting the Chark drop). Then there's the issue of the stupid interception he threw.

Etling literally was solely responsible for a 28 point swing.
