That dog hunts.

In no particular order:

Luke Hoelman
Gage Jump
Thatcher Hurd
Nate Ackenhausen
Justin Loer
Griffin Herring
Gavin Guidry
Fidel Ulloa
Kade Anderson
Sam Dutton
Javen Coleman

Plus we can't count out the below guys from earning the trust:

Aiden Moffett
DJ Primeaux
Christian Little
Micah Bucknam

I'd like to see more of Bucknam. He looked like an All-Conference pitcher in his first outing then laid an egg in his second appearance. His stuff looked really good, but he might be a bullpen arm we can only see once a week. With the depth of this staff, I think we can make that happen.

I would probably take this a step further and say fully trusted pitchers, somewhat trusted but may be working through things pitchers and then guys who could earn more trust with better performance.

Something like...

Fully trusted
Luke Holman
Gage Jump
Nate Ackenhausen
Justin Loer
Gavin Guidry
Fidel Ulloa
Kade Anderson
Javen Coleman

Mid-level trust/working through stuff
Thatcher Hurd
Griffin Herring
Sam Dutton
DJ Primeaux

Guys who could earn more trust/p.t. with better performance
Aiden Moffett
Christian Little
Micah Bucknam
Cam Johnson
Will Hellmers
Nic Bronzini

It’s been nice seeing these guys not struggle to throw strikes like early last season. If this staff stays healthy and settles in, LSU will be a tough out

The reason I say these 2 are trusted is because they performed on the biggest stage last year. yes, both are working through it a bit this year but we have seen both excel in big moments.

They have put him in big spots thus far and he has performed pretty well imo. Seems they trust him.

I forgot about him, definitely in the could step up category.

How blessed are we that I could forget about the top freshman prospect in college baseball?

I'd like to see that whole last list be the relief options on Wednesday. Moffett is trending in the right direction, Bucknam needs to find consistency, and Johnson just needs innings.

Yeah I was trying to balance last year/this year as best I could. I put Hurd down there because he obviously got "downgraded" after a few rough starts this past weekend to Sunday form Friday. Not that he is untrusted and will still be starting on the weekend, but i think it's fair to say he was obviously working through some stuff this year.

Herring obviously has had a few rough outings this year which is why I put him there but hes getting opportunities obviously.

This goes back to balancing this year/last year. He has been really good so far this year and zero complaints there. I still have PTSD a little bit here though and remember him throwing 1 too many juicy strikes last year but I think I'd move him up pretty quick if he continues to get outs and limit hits (he's always been good limiting free passes). He also wasnt used at all this past weekend which tells me the coaches still might not be totally on board giving him the more important innings quite yet. He was used in tight situations against Stony Brook, VMI and UCA but those were weekends we also had 4 games and had to use a lot of pitching.

Thats the targeted return time for him, but i hope people arent expecting him to come back and suddenly be some dominant high lever age guy. Usually when guys first start competitively pitching right after TJ it takes some time to get back into the groove of things. I would think if he pitches this year its mostly just eating up some innings in games out of hand to get him back into pitching some. Maybe late in season if things go well he might get some more high leverage situations, but I wouldnt expect him to be pitching like 2 innings in SEC play during a game in April or something.

my question is, does Anderson stay as the midweek starter? or ar some point does he get long relief time during the weekend.

he looks like one of our 5 best pitchers and I dont see him continuing to go against the SELUs of the world bs seeing SEC hitters.

We'll have mid-week games that get out of hand fairly early and Jay might pull him after say only 2-3 innings to get other guys who need work so he could pitch some on a weekend I bet. Especially say a Tuesday game vs. Wednesday.

Put him in working through stuff because he honestly hasnt had a good appearance yet this year including this past weekend against ULL. I just think he may have trended down some now and he's "working through stuff".

FWIW I almost put Loer in the working through stuff category because he clearly had a few struggle appearances early on but this weekend he trended back up fortunuately.

I'm tempted to move him to either of the other categories if he has another good outing against Southeastern on Wednesday.

If he does, no point wasting him on meaningless midweek opponents after that.
