2 times tonight you safety squeeze with no outs and runners on the corners. No excuse. Worse thing that happens is you get runners on 2 and 3 with one out. Duplantis has zero power( homerun yesterday was certainly not to be expected again) and has bee struggling in the cws. No excuse. Zero

What does Duplantis having or not having power have to do with it? He drives in runs. He's been doing it all year.

Actually Duplantis has been one of your more consistent hitters the whole tournament but keep going. He is also one of your more clutch hitters and handles the bat pretty well. Pitcher made a great pitch and he struck out that happens.

Lack of pitching depth would have done us in anyways. See 8th inning

You do realize how many rbi's duplantis has this year? He's almost .400 hitter with risp

BS, he strikes out on low and inside pitches, pops out to shallow outfield, or grounds out to first/second. He was clutch leading up to CWS but not in CWS. I'm not knocking him. He is what he is as an offensive player, but Paul should not have put that on Duplantis's shoulders.

Bottom line, you have speed on both bases and speed at the plate, you safety squeeze and hope he beats out the throw to first. If he doesn't, who cares, tied ball game.

And I agree, bringing in the closer in the 6th was a terrible idea also.

I agree that he should have bunted him, but Duplantis was probably our leading hitter in the CWS and he's 2nd on the team in RBI's.

Is that what you did when you won the CWS?

That's great and all but there is just one problem

WE CAN'T frickING BUNT

You would be bitching right now that we popped up a bunt or struck out after fouling off 2 bunts

This is truly a ridiculous thought. A safety squeeze is not a common play like you guys make it out to be. Even if he gets the bunt down, there is no guarantee the runner can go because it was bunted too hard or too soft or directly at the pitcher or not far enough away from the plate. Stop acting like a safety squeeze is a common occurrence and so easy to execute. Having your number 3 hitter get a sacrifice fly is way more likely then executing a safety squeeze to perfection especially when you consider how we bunted in that series.

You greatly increase your odds of putting the ball in play by bunting.. with Kramer's speed anything but a hard bunt to the pitcher scores.. the odds say you bunt 10/10 times with an athlete like Duplantis up.

Yeah, and you know nothing about baseball. And to those who say we can't bunt....that is a whole other issue. At this level, who can't lay a bunt down. I have 9 yr olds who can lay a bunt down when needed. Coaching lost this game when every run mattered and would have been the difference.

Even if there was a do over, I still don't think I bunt Duplantis there. He handles the bat great and rarely strikes out. All he has to do is put it in play on the ground. It didn't happen, but 9 out of 10 times Duplantis gets that run home.

If I'm trying to win the CWS I do. A regular season game, you're right. But my back was against the ropes and I'm trying to win and get a spark. Damn right I bunt anyone and everyone in that situation.

Yes, but Freeman should have been watching that strikeout from second base.

With pap up, you have beau on deck. He can bunt. UF was conceding the tying run for the double play. Your odds of getting the run there are high if you don't bunt a guy who hardly bunts and can pull. Exact same goes for Dup. Period. So shut up.
