But wait! I have been told many times on this very board that the following CANNOT happen under any circumstances, and that any expression of suspicion that it could is pure paranoia and whining:

quote:

5 & 4. Purdue vs. Penn State – November 3, 2007 & Illinois vs. Ohio State –

November 10, 2007

We’ll get to the reason why we had to lump these two games together in just a second. The fact is that both games had a ton of horrible calls that affected the outcome as well. But the really interesting thing about this pair of Big 10 games played on back to back weekends is that they are linked by a common officiating crew.

These games actually sparked an investigation of the officials which brought to light some very interesting factoids about the crew leader, Stephen Pramon. It seems that Mr. Pramon had previously filed bankruptcy, citing debts of over $400,000. The kicker is that two of the listed creditors were casinos.

While the investigation never came right out and accused Pramon of attempting to alter games he was officiating, it was certainly implied as a strong possibility. Pramon and his crew were eventually fired as a result of the investigation.

And that is what makes the Big Ten a more respectable conference than the SEC. When a Big Ten official is making suspiciously bad calls, the Big Ten investigates, and if that investigation discovers evidence of cheating, the bastard gets fired. When it happens in the SEC, the SEC just says nothing happened and we don't want to hear about it.

I remember that!!! The head offical actually had to watch the jumbotron to see who recovered the muffed punt. Next play was a momentum changing pass to Robert Royal. Great night.

You talking about the leverage call?

It wasn't a leverage call, which as I understand it, means that the player uses another player to gain more height on a jump or more penetration on a rush to block a field goal. It was landing on another player after jumping into the air. It was supposed to prevent defenders running toward the line, diving over it and landing on the opposing players, possibly hurting them. In this case, our guy jumped and landed on our own side of the line, and the only person he made contact with when he landed was our own player. Never crossing the line of scrimmage and not touching an Auburn player on landing, he was not supposed to be called for the penalty. However, the rules committee (which included Nick Saban) had refused Saban's request for a guide to interpretation that would have cleared up this very issue ahead of time on the grounds that no official could be so stupid or so crooked as to call the penalty in that situation. Well, the ref at Auburn proved them wrong and called the penalty, deciding the outcome of the game in Auburn's favor. The week following the game, the NCAA issued the very interpretation guide that Saban had requested when the rule was passed. So, that play is and will always remain the only one in NCAA history in which that penalty was called under those circumstances.

Only at Auburn.

I read that. That can't be true. If it was, the head of SEC officiating needs to be dismissed and Slive has some explaining to do.

Of course it's true. Of course the head of SEC officiating needs to be dismissed. Of course Slive has explaining to do. But, in typical SEC form, nobody gets dismissed, nobody explains anything, nobody even admits that any mistakes were made, and the cheating continues.

Corrupt officiating is one of the larger threats to the future of the SEC. Once the public begins to realize that practically no result in an SEC football game can be relied on because of blatant cheating by refs, it will severely undermine the credibility of the league and all its teams, even the ones that aren't cheating.

Of course, corruption and cheating at the schools themselves is also a huge threat to the SEC's future well-being. And care to guess which school leads the conference in that area, too?

Cheating and corruption are the oldest and most revered tradtions at Auburn.

Is this true in regards to LSU vs. Auburn 2006 and the official in question?

[i]"The replay official overturned the interference and gave the ball back to Auburn. It was later discovered that the replay official was not only an Auburn alumnus, but was also a big booster to the program."

When all these Auburn plays come up in lists, it always suprises me that no one mentions Auburn's game winning drive in 04. They were around the 20 with time running before Campbell's 4th down touchdown pass. Auburn fumbled after a reception and with the ball heading out of bounds, Travis Daniels reached, had both hands wrapped on the ball and a foot in bounds. The game would have been over.

I was at Jordan Hare in 2004. We sat in the stadium after the game for thirty minutes in an extra dimension of heartache. That game was as nasty as it gets. That call was never called before, nor has it been since. Fisticuffs were thrown that night. We even had some Alabama guys on our side...

The first year of using replay officials the SEC in its inestimable wisdom, decided that the home team could designate the replay booth official. After the first year, the SEC now sends a replay official along with the on-the-field game officials.

And Campbell makes touchdown throw and becomes hero.... and we get his crappy Aubie arse playing for the Redskins and ruining the team

Auburn Football Deserves the F-ing DEATH PENALTY

These miserable mofos need to be exposed to the world of college FB for the scumbag, lowlifes that they are.

Nevertheless, this blatant home cooking cost LSU a chance to play for the SEC Championship and possibly a national title.

it was called against Washington State 2 weeks later, than adjusted. So actually, it was made twice in the same season. Not much better, and it doesn't make it a better rule, but it was called again.

I'm not defending what happened at Auburn the last 2 trips. However I also have been unimpressed with every article I've read on bleacher report.

The claim in this article about the replay guy being an Auburn booster is nothing but pure shite talking.

Consider the source. Everything I've read on this site has been unsubstantiated crap.
