2006 and 2007 were the only LSU teams I thought 10-2 and a Sugar would be underachieving.

yes,but 9-3 more likely this year.

I quit paying attention to football when I was younger. I was a Cowboys fan as a kid. I fell back in love with it and then became a fan of LSU and the Saints at a convenient time. I admit it.
But to just go ahead and accept two losses WITHOUT THE CHANCE TO SEE IF WE WOULD WIN THEM?
Hell no.

No. Right or wrong, the sense that prognosticators are sleeping on this team is gaining momentum. LSU has played Bama tough in recent years and I think there are simply too many people drinking the Aggie Kool-Aid. This thing needs to play out.

As a spinoff from the Huffington Post bowl projections, would you sign up today for no better OR worse than 10-2 and the Sugar Bowl bid?
'guarantees' are for cajun cooks...not sports.

The wins and losses can be to whoever and however you want. You don't have any say so in how the rest of the SEC plays out, just that LSU is in the Sugar and is 10-2 and didn't win the SEC West.
even though 10-2 is very probable, I still want to 'win the west' because it signifies an accomplishment at the top levels of college football. we need to reestablish (restore order) our ability to win titles and it starts with the SECW.

No. Because I actually like to watch and enjoy college football as it happens. And I love to watch LSU put it on the line in big games not knowing who the games or the season will turn out.
For me its about the games and experiencing them as they happen. The record is just a stat at the end of the season when there is no actual live football to watch anymore.
I see zero fun to be had in following a season when you know how it will all turn out in the end.

quote:"Settlers". That's it. I've been searching for a word that describes those in the fan base who are gullible enough to believe we're getting the most out of the talent on the field. Settlers.
too much of our fan base are "settlers".

people who would choose to "lock it in" on 10-2 and no SECw title are the same folks who would rather skip a chance to play in the SECCG (and possibly lose, oh no!) if it meant locking up a stupid BCS bowl bid.
SEC Titles are what LSU aspires to. Period. Everything else is gravy (Natty) or inconsequential.

Do not understand people's thinking this year at all. Here have some TL,DR
LSU finally has a legit senior QB with an offense who almost every one returned and an actual offensive coordinator. Yeah you lost some people on defense, but most of those stars weren't even living up to expectation and there is a world of talent behind them. You have the best defensive coordinator there is and a ton of speed this year. LSU fans tend to only see what happens to their team, but all the other top teams lost a ton of talent as well. Bama took some huge losses, IMO far worse than LSU. Not as many people, but far more critical. Especially on their line, as well as D. LSU always plays Bama well, especially on the road. UGA's defense absolutely cannot stop the run and they lost their big boys. Florida is a team we absolutely could have won last year on the road, and will absolutely beat at home this year.. and a&m is just not going to beat LSU at LSU. They had their best team last season at home and couldn't even beat LSU. And then you got the people every season that worry about a Mississippi school. GTFO. Neither Mississippi school is on par with LSU and LSU will continue dominating them as always.
LSU is more than capable to beat everyone on their schedule this season. They did it just 2 years ago, and last year those 2 losses could have gone either way.. they can do it again this year with a senior QB.
I understand it's a tough schedule and 2 losses would be a "good" season.. but to me that's disappointing when LSU is more than capable at running the table again. Those other schools are not as strong as a year ago.

Only if 1 of the wins is an absolute thrashing of mUlligAn & a win over the Uggs. I can accept losses @ UGA & @ home vs UF as along as those are very close. I still feel like this outcome would be settling for a consolation prize. Look back @ the higher level of success in the odd # yrs since 2000. Why can't that continue this season?
Name another school that would not like to have that every year? Like Iowa, Or Nebraska[as of now] Arizona, Heck even Fla St. LSU is in a different area as far as most schools go. But it takes A lot of luck to do better than 10-2 every year. I mean look at Mack Brown at Texas. He had like 9 seasons of at least 10 wins and people want him fired. Really?
Yes, we're in a different area. It takes FAR more luck for the teams you mentioned to go 10-2 than it does for us. This year for example, based on talent alone, we should win 8 games.
Then you have aTm, Georgia, Bama, and Florida. Going 50-50 against those four teams and finishing 10-2 doesn't require much luck. IMO, you weren't very lucky if you went .500.
and BTW, people are pissed at Mack Brown because prior to Saban turning around Bama, he had THE premiere job in college football.

LSU has only had >2 regular season losses twice since 2003. Conceding two just for a Sugar Bowl berth is rantarded.

Knowing what I know now, given the unknowns.......that would appear to be squeezing out of this season what we can realistically get. I remain hopeful for more.

If you're hoping for a BCS bowl, you need therapy. Mediocre football is here to stay. Crapital One Bowl is my guess.
Mediocre football will not achieve the Cap One Bowl! Outside of the BCS, it now sits as the premier bowl game. That's where Georgia landed last season. Georgia...Shheeese! They even get to play cupcakes in their prestigious bowl game!
I personally would enjoy seeing LSU in the Sugar. I hope for a Nat'l championship, too, but I won't feel disappointed in any BCS Bowl bid for the Tigers.

No, because that's probably around where we will finish. I'd lock in 13-1 or 12-2 though.....
