That article makes a good case for it.
Lots of surprising info in there and Alleva throws shade on Wade.
Wow!

Many people here blame Alleva for everything that went wrong, but don’t give him any credit for what he did right. That just stupid. I didn’t particularly like the guy, but he did some really good things as well.

Good read for sure.

I found most interesting his comments on Fisher... “I wanted nothing to do with Jimbo Fisher.”

I was also surprised to see him say he “got bad recommendations on Will Wade.”

I was never a fan of Joe Alleva. My main issue with Joe was his inability to handle PR in a good way for LSU. His personality made LSU look worse than it should have in many hot topic moments. (Specifically, the big ones... Florida hurricane fiasco, Les Miles fired or not saga in 2015, Will Wade suspension 2019)

Just like it was time for a change at HC with Les - and aside from Orgeron-Wade blame game - it was also time for a change at AD at LSU. That said, I do think Joe did some good things at LSU. And he absolutely deserves some credit for Orgeron...that was absolutely a tough and highly unpopular decision to make given the circumstances. Fans had every right to logically question and criticize the hire, but it certainly took some courage and conviction on Alleva’s part to make that hire, knowing it would alienate himself from much of the fanbase by doing so and potentially pave the way for his own dismissal regardless of Orgeron’s performance on the field.

Joe deserves some credit. It was time for him to go, for sure, but I certainly thank him for the good things he did for LSU while he was here, and there were many, specifically to facilities. And while it didn’t seem like it at the time, and it may very well just be blind luck, but Ed Orgeron turns out to be one of those good things that Alleva did.

It’s okay for humans to disagree on subjective things. I disagreed with Joe Alleva on a few things, some wholeheartedly. But I do sincerely believe that overall Joe always did what he felt was best for LSU.

The Orgeron hire turned out to be college football's best AD move in years.

He'll likely soon land a solid AD position on that decision alone.

One more comment on Miles-Fisher 2015.

Certainly sounds like, at least according to Alleva, that he had to pick the lesser of 2 evils at the time....He wanted to fire Miles, but he did not want to hire Fisher. And he knew that if he did fire Miles that he was going to be forced to hire Fisher. So, whether right or wrong, at least in Alleva’s mind he chose the lesser of two evils with Miles over Fisher.

It actually kind of makes sense given the chaotic nature of that particular week leading up to A&M game. Adds more clarity to why that week and decision became So seemingly chaotic and why Alleva’s uninspiring statement after the A&M game about keeping Miles was so odd.

That's a legacy refining history rewrite on ole Joe, imo.

He fell into O, Les brought O here and he was the natural interim. I don't buy that he wasn't interested in Jimbo or Herman, he pursued them both.

Nonetheless, he's here and I'll give Joe credit for keeping him.

That said, frick what he says about Wade, he fricked us out of a legitimate tournament run last year with his kneejerk reactionary bullshite that he should be Legendary for by now.

Duke Lacrosse
LSU Shady's
LSU Wade, non fricking story

frick Joe Alleva. Bye felicia

To be fair, he didn’t say he wasn’t interested in Herman. By his own admissions, LSU and Herman were definitely in talks and negotiating about the position. Alleva just stated he didn’t want to pay what Herman wanted.

Now Fisher on the other hand, he comes right out and says “I wanted nothing to do with him”. So there’s really no question there how a Alleva felt lol

Regrets? Alleva has a few as well. His biggest, he said candidly, was hiring Wade.

What a douche.

I'm sure talking to Les was like talking to a wall.

Something happened along the way during his time here, but Ole Les grew more and more...detached...from this program and his original mindset. Saban? Age? His sister's death? Late onset of CTE? Who knows...but Miles drastically changed at some point.

And yet...he kept him.

As for Jimbo...that sounds liked spilled milk.

As stated earlier, he fell into Coach O. Given the circumstances surrounding the firing of Les, I would imagine there was some apprehension with potential candidates.

Lastly, didn't he bring in Aramark?

Even when he’s right, he comes off as an unlikable a-hole.

I personally think he just happened to luck out with orgeron. However, it is concerning that the new popular AD, with a personality everyone likes, did make a very very questionable hire at A&M.

That article makes a good case for it.
That article makes a good case in the same the Iranian News Agency does when it claims Soleimani was a saint of a guy on a diplomatic mission in Iraq.

The vast majority on this board will remember the relationship between Alleva and Les. It was putrid. Alleva undercut him, made public notice of his "hot seat" status, cost us several recruits in the process, and ACTIVELY pursued Jimbo both in 2015 and 2016.

The article is ridiculous.
