The Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good - It’s refreshing to see a staff that can make adjustments at halftime. The team could have laid down, but they made adjustments on both side of the ball to give us a chance to win.
The Bad - Sam Leavitt was bad. Seemed nervous in the pocket, he’s looking to run before seeing any reads. I know OL isn’t doing him any favors but he missed wide open WRs on several occasions. He has to get better moving forward and the coaching staff has to get calls to help him get in rhythm.
The Ugly - Defensive play calling. I’m honestly not even sure what our plan was in the first half. At times it seemed we didn’t bring pressure and allowed soft coverage. The last series of the first half was an embarrassment and probably the action that cost us the game. Baker has been good, but he has always had these head scratching moments. The defensive plan for Chambliss was ugly.

I wonder, how much influence did Lane and the offensive staff have in the prep and game planning for Trinidad? They saw that cat everyday so they obviously believe they know what works best against him and told Baker to play a bend but don’t break D? No doubt, Baker shoulders most of the blame, but the offensive staff played a part in that approach as well.

The play right before the half was the “straw”…rush 3 and drop 8 back and the ole miss receiver was wide open for a TD.. that should never happen..no pressure applied in that situation to the best QB in college football and he will pick you apart…

I think we need to move him out of the pocket by design to throw, not just run every time they break contain.
He had several tipped balls last night, the game ending INT the most obvious, so getting him into space to deliver throws would go a long way to getting more routes available imo.

I thought Jones was a bright spot in an otherwise inconsistent offense. If LSU’s main receiving target is done for the year while its other receivers couldn’t get open against air, along with a suspect interior OL and a QB that wants to run the second his first read is covered, then LSU has to find some consistent player it can lean on. Maybe Jones is it

Seen all I need from Levitt
He’s a great scrambler . His style could get him injured though.
His accuracy simply isn’t what it needs to be for this offense and without Green, I don’t have much hope for his accuracy to improve

The stupid keep everything in front of us is PREVENT D which prevents you from winning!
Said it multiple times last night soft zone, no spy no pressure is why they got 7-9 3rd and longs converted!
Q3 heavy pressure, man and bingo Chambliss is off and scoreless….Q4 Vanilla soft coverage and LOSE!
Sam is an athlete who plays run QB and play ground passer. He doesn’t get past a 1st option and is not accurate. How many missed WRs and tipped balls did he have?
OL has 2 legit SEC starters and 3 backups and no TE. If Green is out for a long while which it looked like last night they have no insurance blanket in RZ and you will see more the crap ?? they called with bad direct snaps and Fullbacks playing TE.
Besides that the WR need to get open more they created very little separation against a weak secondary. A Team with a legit secondary will make it even harder for WR/Sam.

That's because all eight were "spies" on Chambliss. As soon as he started scrambling, all eight started moving towards Chambliss and left their WR's. This with 10 seconds left in the half and Chambliss on the 35 yard line.
Either our players were dumb or the coaching was dumb on that play.
It took Baker all the first half to realize that Chambliss' passing was hurting more than his running. Just a terrible game plan by Baker. Add to that "dumb" plays by our Secondary and you have a 24 - 7 score at half.

It was more like 12-15 yards on a lot of occasions!
