That last defensive series was exactly what Baker did against Ole Miss and we lost both. Both of these losses are on him.

I hate playing not to lose so much.
All you needed was 1 yard at the end of the 4th quarter to close it out and Lane caved to the outside pressure to do the “smart” thing and punted instead of just being Lane and going for it.

The coach can't make player make tackles instead of going for a pick. All coaches can do is put players in a position to make plays. If you want to think Baker isn't an elite DC that's fine but it's football ignorant.
He is missing the qb of his defense right now. The offense literally had 2 turnovers in the 2nd half and was given the ball to run out the clock and couldn't get 10 yards but yeah this is on the defense.

The defense is the only reason we were able to take the lead in the 2nd half

If your team can't get 1 yard then you don't deserve to win.

Did you watch the game? Baker doesn't coach special teams.

The defense gave up 6 2nd half pts

If he had the qb of his defense he probably isn't in that position to begin with. It's not like the defense didn't give the game to the offense to end the game and they couldn't get 10 yards. It's not like the defense overcame 2 second half turnovers by the offense in their own territory.

He’s an average DC and always has been. The problem is LSU’s defense was so bad in 2023 that anyone who came in to replace the former DC would’ve looked like a genius. Give Baker credit though. He found the only fanbase that thinks he is an elite coordinator and cashed in handsomely.

The defense had a far better 2nd half than the offense.
