Need to check out his stuff but 124 Ks is ridiculous at any level

He is a very nice addition to the staff

Does anyone know what his arsenal is like… curve, slider, change, cutter, etc.?
Also, what kind of velo does he have?

I watched his start against Long Island in the regional. It’s just my opinion but he has an elite change but needs a few more mph on his fastball. He was sitting around 89 to 91. He throws a crap ton of strikes and does not walk many. He also has a slider and a curve which he didn’t throw that much in the game I watched. I don’t know what Jay plans on doing with him but I think he would be better for a change of pace reliever and not a starter but I am not sure he is coming to LSU for that. I guess we will find out.

Well hopefully the resources he will have here that maybe arent available to Wofford will help him develop a little more physically to get the most out of his arm.

Me too. He is a really good pitcher. That change is nasty. I hope he takes a jump. I am sure that is what he is hoping for and the main reason he is coming to LSU.

He can do a lot of things. Very versatile pitcher.

Some guys are just good pitchers. You don’t have to have a 100 mph fastball to be an elite pitcher. Maddux was one of the best pitchers I’ve ever seen because he could locate and throw multiple pitches at an elite level. Poche is another one of those not overpowering guys that could just pitch.

Hilliard comes to mind. If you’re throwing strikes I’m happy. 4 pitch walks are so aggravating

Dutton threw a lot of strikes.

Eric Walker was like that.

I get that, I was just pointing out MPH on a fastball does not always tell the story on a very good pitcher.

Cowan pitched more innings this year than Dutton has in 3 years

I’d guess he throws a lot of strikes.
If this season taught us anything, it’s that we need more guys that can consistently throw strikes.

I agree with your point - I just get slightly triggered when people point to Maddux because he's one of the top 5 pitchers of all time.
This is the result of a lifetime of baseball coaches/dads watching prime Maddux and telling every kid that it doesn't matter how hard you throw it, just throw strikes, while completely ignoring the hall of fame stuff

Anybody could be Greg Maddux if you just buy his jersey.

Doubt he’s coming here to throw out of the bullpen. I’d guess he’ll now have access to better weight program + development resources than he has at Wofford. He should get a chance at starting on the weekend.
