so, so many come to mind... but losing Landon Collins, as publicly as we did, at that, sorta started a trend of elite talent from LA going to Bama, right under our nose...

Ed Oliver could have been Glenn Dorsey 2.0 had he come here... would have loved to have seen what he could have done here....

also, Kenny Young... think he could have been a beast here as well, but we never really showed all that much interest in him and he landed at UCLA....

Great choice.

LSU has been needing a dominant interior D-lineman like that for a while.

Man, could you imagine having to deal w/ him, then a blitzing Devin White right up the middle? Yeesh.

That would have been a great show for a few years.

John David Crow. Heisman Trophy winner in 1957. Imagine a backfield with him, Jim Taylor, Cannon, and Robinson.

Marshall Faulk or Ed Reed would be in the discussion.

He is not miserable. Most of us now follow recruiting all year, therefore, this is a good thread to basically say who we think is the big fish that got away. Nothing says that we need to be miserable and dwell on the past, just mention a name and that's it.

You must be a miserable person, because after looking at the OP's thread and message, you became miserable and butt hurt as you dwelled too much on the past for a few recruits you did not want to get away. Sorry you think that the OP made you so sad!

Landon Collins. I believe he started the Louisiana pipeline to Bama and made it a trend for 4 and 5 star players to go to Tuscaloosa

Dylan Moses- The years he was committed to us
Lache Seastrunk- The hype and I went to school with Eddie Fuller, his future wife who was a Seastrunk and friends at LSU
Landon Collins- Sure can't miss 5 star DB we were supposed to get
Cam Robinson- The LT we needed to catch up to Bama
Janzen Jackson- The hype, but he imploded so good riddance
Joe McKnight- The ultimate hype machine. RIP
Peyton Manning- Just think how good we would have been with him at QB. We had Jamie Howard and Melvin Hill, not any Super Bowl winning QB's there, plus we had old Curley Hallman. I think Archie knew how bad Curley was

Vince Young in 2002. We came in #2. Went to same high school Jerel Meyers. Might’ve been us instead for the Rose Bowl 2005.

Wow. I didnt realize that. Before my time. I started following recruiting around 2006. That is a great tidbit. Part of the reason why I started this thread. Shout out Tiger Ree.

This immediately came to mind.. way before my time. Did we ever have a legit shot at Peyton?

If we are going by who would’ve gotten us closest to winning a national championship cam Robinson and not even close. Beside play calling, line play was just not elite enough to handle run blocking for long enough to run how we did. And we really missed that big OT. Not to mention how much he hurt our abysmal defensive line recruiting back then by providing bama with a elite tackle to keep in check our guys. We were the only team who had a chance at beating them back then consistently.

"Ryan Perrilloux. We never had him, really." Agree 100%. You will call me names but think Lsu could have possibly won NC 2008 and 2009 with him at QB. Really think he was the best natural QB ever at LSU, he had every asset, except behavior.

Dak Prescott, but he probably would have been like Jefferson under Miles offense.

I’m gonna go a different route and say Josh Booty. If he had gone straight from high school, his college football career would have been a lot different. I realize he pretty much had to go play baseball being drafted that high, but him being a QB at that specific time in LSU’s ascendence, I thought it was a really big loss.

Side note: He’s a couple years older than me, but close enough to where my teammates and I would have considered him a “peer.” He’s the only player I can ever remember going out of our way to watch take pre-game infield for the sheer spectacle—his arm was unreal. (Joe Lawrence and Johnny Thibodeaux-RIP-at Barbe were the only other guys I remember paying special attention to, again just for the spectacle, not scouting or anything.)
