It is funny that we still call this "recruiting". Silly.

Eugene is not expensive at all if you're not buying a home.

We live in Frisco, TX. Been residents of TX for over 30 years. Part of the reason for the mass migration from CA to TX is jobs. For example, Toyota moved their North America headquarters to Plano, TX a few years ago. It's about jobs. That's why I left Louisiana soon after I received my degree.

Hasn't Stewart only played 11 games of football in high school?

Yeah and he was insanely dominant.

Im sorry, but anyone who suggests that jahkeem Stewart shouldn’t be viewed as an ELITE DL prospect because he’s only played one season of HS football either (a) didn’t see how that one season went, or (b) is just trying to make themselves feel better in case he winds up somewhere other than LSU. The kid is a freak of the absolute highest degree.

The thing is, the kids are probably going to all come home after their careers. That is a lot smoother when you are a local legend and not the guy who went to Oregon or USC. Moves like these always seem short-sighted.

That used to be true. But these days when a kid can make bank on NIL before he ever steps foot on a college campus that home-town hero schtick doesn't carry the same water.

If a bluechipper goes somewhere besides LSU and comes back with a mil or more in the bank I think the cachet of being a hometown hero loses most of its weight.

Yeah, maybe they could go to LSU, be a hometown hero and make a little less on the NIL front, but these days it's all about....

I have 2 friends who played in the NFL. Both paid state income tax in the state where they played any given week. It may be different for other professions or vocations but if you're a player.

Actually, most professional athletes that pay out-of-town taxes are probably paying local/municipality taxes, not state taxes.

I'm pretty sure that two states can't tax the same income at the same time, so if Joe Player plays for a team in Cali but plays a game in ButtFukistan, Indiana, I'm pretty sure only one of those states gets to tax the income he made for that game.

But the city/municipality of ButtFukistan can tax the gobstoppers out of Joe for that one game because that's not double-dipping. It's no different than here in KC, where people who live (or work) in KCMO have to pay city taxes on top of state and federal taxes - same situation.

IIRC, there's some form of informal agreement between states with pro teams that states won't tax player earnings, but local cities where they play can levy taxes.

I could be wrong, though.

Too expensive. Asking price is laughable.

Yup. Bo’s development of the incoming DT class will be plenty.

Also really pleased with People’s development of our edges. Swinson really put in one hell of a season

This doesn’t explain the mass migration AWAY from CA to Texas and Tennessee.

No, but what does explain that migration is the dramatic rise in cost-of-living and taxes on the middle and lower classes of Cali residents.

Ever since Cali started dismantling laws in the '80's and '90's that equitably distributed both tax levies and tax revenue distribution across all citizens there's been a steady decrease in relative income for non-millionaires.

Now, hardly anyone that's a normal worker-bee type can afford to live in Cali. And that will end up killing the state for the wealthy oligarchs that call it home because there'll be nobody left to pay for (or maintain) the infrastructure that makes living there so attractive. And nobody will be left to keep their stores staffed, their farm produce picked and sent to the local Whole Paycheck stores, nobody to, well, do ANYTHING that makes the area desirable.

Just my two pennies worth, but I did live there for several years and saw the effects of those tax repeals firsthand. First things to suffer were the schools - they went from being tops in the country to, well, something less. Then public services like libraries, public health, streets and infrastructure followed. It's only getting worse, not better.

So, yeah, I can understand the normal working stiff leaving the state for grass that looks greener elsewhere. Whether that's what they actually find, though, has yet to be determined.

Isn't Texass one of those states that also doesn't have state income tax because of oil?

Have you talked to any of these California people in Texas? Jobs is not the only reason. There are more that left because of politics and it being cheaper to live .

The jobs aren't "the reason". It's "a reason".

I'm only speaking from my personal experience.

Texas doesn't have a state income tax. I personally don't know the reason why they do not have a state income tax.

Negotiating tactics. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these young men to pit all of the interested parties against each other.

I think you’re missing LSU’s approach to NIL. It seems we believe that if we invest more in our coaching staff we’ll have to spend less on NIL with our ability to develop talent out of the high school ranks while spending in the portal on proven commodities

Will it work? Who knows, but it just seems to be our approach at this point.
