Would former Miss State DB Decamerion Richardson be a take?

Richardson, from Cullen, Louisiana, played in 45 games over his four-year Mississippi State career, making 26 starts. He has recorded 177 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, 10 pass deflections and a fumble recover. He never tallied an interception with the Bulldogs. If Richardson chooses to take his name out of the portal and return to Mississippi State, or go to a different program, he would have one season of eligibility remaining.

To me it's an unequivocal yes.
We need CBs.
We lost two guys to the portal that got snaps at CB. Richardson would be a talent upgrade over both at the position. He also brings experience and a short timeline.
As we continue to build organically through HS recruiting, the one year rentals make more sense at most positions.

I don’t know. I think we have 29 committed now.
Wonder how many spots we have to reach 85?

I think off of years of SEC experience alone, you have to take him

I like the tackle stats, looks like he could help since our current DB's weren't very good at tackling in the sport of tackle football

Is this a serious question or a troll?

The numbers are 62, which includes Harris, Chestnut (who nobody thinks are going to be back next year) along with Nabers and Thomas (the latter 2 going pro we all agree). So that is 58. We have 27 HS commitments now so that gets you to 85.
I still think a few more portal guys will happen. My guess is as bowl practices go on, BK is finding out already what the spring ball depth chart will be on some guys in year 3 lets say who are not progressing will likely move on.
Josh Williams I think will have his MBA by May of 2024. Does he come back for 6th year? Probably not I would think.
So the numbers are actually in good shape to work out and it looks like LSU will for the first time in BK's tenure be at 85 when fall camp starts next August 2024.
Regarding Richardson, I would say 100% yes. He is a take.

The only reason to be hesitant is that he's one and done and you're back looking for another CB. But, he's likely a starter so it would be hard to not pursue a day one starter.

Well a guy like Richardson gives you one year of CB1, like Bernard-Converse did, and you develop your young guys during and after the season.

State fans think he can’t cover
PFF thinks he can
He’s 6’2 and is as physical as you can be weighing 180 pounds on that frame — State fans actually think he would have made for a better safety. That he can’t find the football
Me? I don’t turn down 6’2 physical corners with 4.4 speed and two years SEC starting experience.

Absolutley.
It's also a relitvely easy plug & play type position (outside cb). He'd help us a lot.

In DeCam’s defense, state fans pictured him as the next Forbes, Slay, etc. Lanky cover guy.

I think it comes down to how the staff feels about the incoming class and Johnson and Alexander, including the later’s injury recovery. If they feel the CB room will be back on solid ground after it all shakes out, then a one year guy with SEC experience may be exactly what we need.
The Denver Harris situation will also play a role here. We all assume he’s gone, but who knows how the staff sees it.

Just have to be at 85 by next football season. More players will enter portal this window and spring window.
