Basically Hooties mom got bambuzzled. If Hootie made the decision on what he thinks is best for his future that is one thing. But if anyone Hootie included think they are going to be treat more like family at Alabama than at LSU that borders on beyond stupid. It isn't a freaking secret.

Kind of hard to imagine Les would be less genuine than Nick. Probably just my bias, or maybe it was another coach, or they had an off day. Oh well.

Her ridiculous statement is what pisses me off so much. If the kid had just said he likes Bama better than LSU, I can live with that. But this garbage that they are spewing about "family" is just an insult.

I dunno. The only thing I got from that article is that Saban now has man boobs.
I don't follow recruiting as close as some of you guys but I haven't seen anything to make me think this Hootie guy was any kind of a publicity hound or was insincere during his recruiting. So, yeah it is disapointing to lose him but I won't criticize him.
I am however starting to wonder if - since Bama loves Monroe so much, can we maybe trade it to them for the part of Bama south of I-10. Not sure how that would affect recruiting but we'd get some nice beachfront real estate. And 1/2 of the FloraBama.

Let's just annex all of West Florida. We own the MS Gulf Coast as it is

hootie said bama treated his mom better than anyone

How do we know it is perception and not reality. I don't hear many of their ex players (role players) that come out and blast their treatment while at Bama. I am a huge Tiger fan, but some act as if Bama is some foreign entity. They have built a good program, they have great facilities, they have a ton of publicity, and they will be in the hunt for NC after NC as long as Saban is there. Not a bad gig for a HS stud.
Call it Brand exclusivity and uniqueness.

If it was a business decision, it was a bad one because he has a better chance starting at lsu in his 1st/2nd year.

“I don’t think nobody recruited me as hard as Alabama did,” Jones said. “They showed me a lot of attention that I was a top priority for them. Nobody recruited me harder than that. They never gave up. Anytime any school called, they called me the next hour. They were pushing harder than anybody.”
So do you think Saban called Hootie within an hour after Miles left? I would bet on it.
Saban outworks everybody. How do you get outworked in your own state?

Saban has lost key recruits in his own state recently yet people can't/won't see that.

1. How would Saban or any of their staff know when to call?
2. Do you honestly not realize that it is a violation to exceed your number of contacts with a recruit, which if what Hootie said is accurate, they most certainly did?
Breaking the rules is not 'out working' anyone - it is just breaking the rules. And if the claim is accurate, I hope Bama gets slapped for it and the player is made ineligible, at least for the team committing the violation. But as long as Mark is running the NCAA, Bama evidently has no rules to follow.

You know, as far as mothers of top safeties that go to Bama are concerned, I prefer April Justin to Mrs. Jones.

Like I said before, Taitors gonna trait. Many of these kids have no loyalty to the State. Their only concern is money, period. They don't realize they will nver be welcomed back to Louisiana and they don't care. They don't care if Saban wouldn't piss on em if they were on fire. Its all about cash and they are promised a one way ticket to the NFL. If that doesnt work out, they are basically screwed because they've burned all their bridges. So be it. We want kids who love LSU and Louisiana. Eventually Bama will have so many of these souless 5 star "machines" that the program will collapse. Happens at every college that head hunts out of state mercenaries.

I don't know if that is a violation or not, but if it is a violation I do agree with you. A violation without enforcement and penalty is nothing more than words on a piece of paper.

Saban perceived as greatest college coach
two very recent NCH to show for it
they aren't afraid to stretch the rules
do have good school and recruits
top recruiting class year after year with saban evaluating talent.
we may not like it but those are the facts.
some recruits see Bama success > than Lsu and want to be part of it
