He had to decommit to follow his brother…now Mason Taylor is on his way to be an all American in the next two years and A&M is burning up

Jake was smaller than Taylor so unless he's added a bunch of weight he's probably better off redshirting plus I think A&M had another TE in that class that is playing that was a little higher rated than him

I forgot he existed until this thread. I imagine this won't be the last time I forget he exists.

No, he's 3rd among their TEs in snaps with 10 snaps in 2 games, clearly trying to take a redshirt and probably get out of dodge

1 catch for 2 yards

19-178-1 for Taylor

Taylor should finish with 30+ catches and 350 or so yards.

I mean kind of not by much, 6'5 245 vs. 6'5 235. Both would be playing a lot here considering the TE room. Jake is a pretty good player himself, he was a Top 100 overall player in the nation.

Even after Max left Oconee county this is the numbers Jake put up with a nobody at QB:

2020 - 37 catches, 787 yards, 10 TD
2021 - 45 catches, 745 yards, 7 TD

He was dynamic.

I imagine he’s having a blast being part of a program with such a bright future and enjoying college station and all it has to offer.

But seriously he’s probably wondering if the $500k was worth it

Or was Jake the one who wanted out of dodge? I always thought it was Jake that motivated the Aggies to take Max Johnson.

It will be when we walls out with 500k in his pocket and goes to a good team to play after redshirting like he likely would have. I really don't blame these kids for cashing that check. Its not like they went to a school that had a obviously bad head coach. They probably thought paycheck and enough development to get them to the league. Well now they are there and looking around seeing the "this is fine meme".

Max and Jake both will not be in College Station next year. Papa Johnson will take them back to Florida with him where all 3 of them will star in Tiktok videos.

Getting paid a ton of money for a redshirt year at a very solid university probably isn't the worst thing that has ever happened to him

He can now leave if he wants.

Are we sure NIL was any motivating factor for the Johnsons to A&M? They come from a loaded family, Brad made over $53M in the NFL, I dont know why they would care about a measly half a mil.

Also will be interesting to see how it plays out in terms of transfers if that happens. Jake can go wherever but Max already used up his 1 free transfer, so unless Jimbo got fired or something he would probably have to sit out unless he went down a level to like FCS. Or the NCAA changes the 1 time free transfer rule.

No, we're not. Just people on a message board speculating about things they know nothing about, per the norm. If they went to A&m, it must have been for the money :eyeroll:

$500,000 isn’t measly to anyone no matter how much money they have. That’s objectively a lot of money and last time I checked, Jake isn’t the one who already made a lot of money in the NFL regardless.

Either way, they seem like a weird arse family that fits in perfectly in College Station. I feel like they went there because they genuinely liked the weird Texas 10 gallon hat vibe that A&M tries to put off

I meant my comment more as a general statement, not necessarily directed to the johnsons. But I do wonder about that one as well. Idk if Brad is one of those parents that isn't giving his fortune to his children or not. Maybe those kids don't recieve any type of financial support outside of necessities from their father. IDK. It's not like they he left before Brian Kelly was hired, they knew they would play for a really good coach.
