It worked out somewhat this year but does this model work?

It “could” work sporadically. Is it a long term solution to any team that wants to be competitive year in and year out? Probably not. Do I ever see Ole Miss winning a national championship? Not likely. But they could make the playoffs every once in awhile which for a program like them, that’s huge. That’s their ceiling unless they just ever got extremely fortunate and put together the RIGHT staff with the RIGHT portal players. Thats very unlikely though.

Wow.

Way to ‘not go back and forth’.

I’m seriously dealing with a low iq’er.

Ok? But they didn’t do very well in recruiting and we did.

You’re not going to get both a top recruiting class and a top portal class at LSU. You won’t see it at Bama either. Or Ohio State, or Texas, or any other “big time program”. Most if not all of the higher rated portal players are looking for guaranteed play time. They won’t generally get that at a team that consistently recruits in the top 10. That’s why they will go to that “2nd tier” recruiting program like Ole Miss.

It’s like simple logic just evades some of you.

And it still baffles the frick out of me why some of our fan base loves to elevate Ole Miss to a level they just are realistically not in or likely will ever be in.

They are that program that could “ruin your season” but they ain’t that program that will “dominate” a season.

It's perception. The media perception is Lane is a football and portal savant. People buy into BS narratives all the time.

It’s almost like people would rather beat ole miss in the portal instead of on the field

You’re reading way too far into it. He did pretty well in the portal last year.

He did- but they won't equal the success they had last season. They went for broke going into this year; it was playoffs or bust. A very expensive bust.

I agree, but if you think that Walter Nolen with 48 tackles and 6 sacks is worse than Paez & Suggs combined total of 28 tackles and 4 sacks then how do you think we beat them in the portal?

We lost in the last seconds vs USC and could have won that game. Those sacks could have made a difference. Think of having a difference maker to back up Swinson's 8 sacks. I didn't even include other guys we were after and didn't make it in the first and second portals. We are unranked.

I understand you've got that overly emotional guy in this thread that cries like a bitch, any time you mention any other team and feels the need to run off anyone that mentions Ole Miss, but there is a reason they come up...they do well in the portal and are starting out pretty good again if they get Kutas.

If you're not allowed to talk about portals in or out, then what is this board for? I don't think he's smart enough to understand that recruiting and transfers are the lifeblood of the program. Dare I even mention LT Overton from alabama and the guy is going to need a shrink.

That's a good measuring stick since we play them again next year.

What happened to the SEC rule that if you transfer in conference you have to sit out a year?

The guy who managed to get himself suspended before an important Florida game? The guy who managed to not improved while the other guys at his position improved greatly? The guy who was splitting reps with a true freshman?

Womack was a head case and was difficult to coach. “Uncoachable” was thrown out as a reason LSU was glad to parts ways. CJ Daniels is the only one of 14 that produced and will be missed. 1 of 14 bro.

Just out of curiosity, what has he done on the field that’s made you believe he will be a solid contributor at Ole Miss and not just a depth piece?

Which means if he becomes coachable, he’s going to be pretty good. People acting like the guy didn’t have talent is just silly. He’s got a ton of talent, he’s just not doing what he needs to to develop and he was behind one of our best defenders.

All I said was the guys dissing him will be checking his stats during Sunday coffee. As seen below.

Obviously there is talent we want to keep on this team they have not produced yet.

Sure Womack oozes potential. My old coach used to say, potential just means you ain't done shite yet.

I'm not sure if the coaches wanted to keep him or not as we are not privy to these guys work ethics or character, but him even making it to the portal and picking another team tells me we aren't bending over backwards to keep him even with our depleted depth at that position. Think about why that is.

I remember when Lane was being a little crybaby about the transfer portal.
