He’s a really good fit for McMahon’s roll and replace offense. Defensively though he’s a mess.

That's great news. McMahon has picked up 3 starters in the portal. Baker at least should be a reliable scorer for the team. I'm hoping Ward and Reed can continue to develop, turn into consistent starters and be what we hoped they would be last year.

Phillips does not have the offensive skills that Baker has, but it would be nice to get Phillips back, because he would be a good defensive presence and rebounder. We still need one of those, although Chest may be able to fill that role. I do like the idea of a quicker player than Phillips to rely on for defense and rebounds.

I agree. I'd love to have Phillips back. We could even play them both at the same time with Baker being the high post or stretch 4 in some sets (if I'm understanding my terminology correctly).

I'm hopeful for Chest, but he's only listed as 6'8". Is that a real 6'8" or is he more like 6'6"? If the latter, he won't be a rim protector.

Glad we got him.

Doesn't help defense and rebounding though, and we're in terrible shape with both.

Ave 25 minutes/game 13.6 ppg 56% from the field and 84% from the free throw line. Can hit the occasional 3 (36%) and has an efficient short jump hook. At 7' he takes up space in the paint. In.

I like his tenacity in attacking.

He is a lefty with a damn hook shot

I wonder if he will be strong enough to bully his way into the paint in the sec.

He has decent low post moves. He'll help us. He'll definitely soften the blow of losing KJ.

Any player that has a hook shot is good in my book. Tore em up in 7th grade private school league with the hook. Also my last memories of playing organized basketball as I didn't nearly grow to 6 foot

I don't know if anybody has shared this film, but here's what you get with Baker in terms of his offensive game.

Terrific shooter, good moves around the basket, pretty good hands.

This doesn't show any defense or rebounding. I don't know that there is much of that. But then again you didn't get a whole lot of that with KJ Williams, so there isn't too much to complain about with that trade.
