Why would you want to play in a lesser conference, than in the SEC? If you consider yourself an elite talent, would you not want to play in an elite conference. My opinion is that you will not be competitive for the National Championship Playoff in Miami. Maybe I got it wrong, and Mario Cristobal will take them to the promised land but in the sate of Florida you compete with FSU, Florida, LSU, Alabama, Georgia for talent. Lot of competition in Florida. Suspect all things recruiting are going to be shuffled up with revenue sharing coming to a town near you soon. How will NIL be handled in a world of players getting a salary for their services. Guess we will have to wait and see how it all comes out in the wash But given a choice wash I would pick an SEC school to show case my talents.

Winning titles isn’t the most important thing to some kids. I personally don’t believe teams outside of the SEC or Big 10 will be able to win a natty based on the massive disparity in resources through tv contracts.

the current LSU staff also can’t sell recruits on this and I’m not sure why this board is convinced we have the same sales pitch as Bama

LSU can absolutely sell recruits on national titles. LSU has 3 natty wins since 2000, with 4 title games total. Thats the second most tiltles of this century. Only 6 programs have more than 1 national title since the turn of the century. Alabama 6, LSU 3, Georgia 2, Clemson 2, Ohio St. and Florida 2. Not to mention LSU had a title in 2019, only 5 years ago. Has had 10 win seasons the past two years, with a sec west win and a heisman winner.

Because great things are ahead - read between the lines. I mean his announcement was terrible. Absolutely no excitement. He is like the democrats - miserable. We have someone else lined up…time will tell.

LSU has the second most titles in CFB since 2000. BAMA has a new staff just like LSU, so you’re telling me they can sell recruits on titles, but LSU can’t? Bama’s new coach has been in the same number of major college football championship games as BK.

LSU has won a national championship as recently as 5 years ago. Did you know that only 5 other teams have won in the past 10 years?

What sales pitch can't we sell that Bama can? I seem to remember it's been 4 year since Bama has won a national championship. It's been 5 years since we have. I seem to remember LSU still putting tons of players in the first 2 rounds, including 4 last year. We've also had 2 heisman winners over the past 5 years,

Because there is money to be had all across the country. Revenue sharing is a soft cap at best. The SEC laid out the model this week. That's where the 14-17 mil number came from. That's the football share of the revenue the football program brings in under the current TV contract. About 70%. The 30% doesn't factor into the football players money. Its for other LSU athletes and programs. Title ix compromise you could say. That money is made up by boosters, collectives, whatever NIL entity there is. That's where the soft cap comes into play. There's no limit to NIL opportunities. Boosters, such as Phil Knight for example, can spend whatever they want. The courts have made it clear that even as an "employee" these kids cannot be limited from making the most amount of money available to them through endorsements. Imagine Lebron James as an employee of the Lakers not being able to make billions from Nike. The "employee" part is just legal word salad for $ the schools themselves MUST divy to the athletes because they lost a lawsuit. Outside of that there are no limits. Elite rosters are gonna cost 25+ million a year. 105 players is what they say.
Point, Miami may make less from TV. Cool. That lowers the range the school MUST pay the roster. Nothing to stop Ruiz or whoever from making up the difference. And showcasing talent in a stronger conference is a wash. The NFL will find anyone with talent. The "tape" becomes useless to a certain point during draft preparation. Ask 10 scouts about a kid and you'll get 10 different opinions of the same tape.
MUST=required by law. The only cap involved. It's a minimum not maximum.
